Morgan Park Academy 25-25, Elgin Academy 9-14: Sam Panozzo’s 17 assists and six aces guided host Morgan Park Academy (13-8, 5-1) in the Independent School League.
Andrew 22-25-25, Thornwood 25-19-15: Kaileen Herman provided 27 assists and Lexi Pranckus (5 digs) finished with 10 kills to propel host Andrew (5-16, 2-2) in the SouthWest Suburban Red. Lauren Durkin added seven kills and seven digs for the Thunderbolts.
Sandburg 25-25, Lockport 18-22: Julia Borschel provided nine kills and Sami Knight dished out 29 assists to pace visiting Sandburg (20-7, 4-0) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Kelly McGovern chipped in 17 digs for the Eagles. Lindsey Visvardis led Lockport (15-11, 3-1) with 14 digs and Kayla Pfeiffer had eight assists.
Marist 25-25, Joliet Catholic 20-14: Molly Mayo’s 21 assists and seven digs powered visiting Marist (20-7, 7-0). Anne Marie Stifter added eight kills for the RedHawks in the East Suburban Catholic.
Bolingbrook 20-25-25, Lincoln-Way East 25-18-15: Sarah Dobrich (6 kills) and Taylor Nirchi (9 digs) were the standouts for host Lincoln-Way East (15-12, 3-1) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.
Joliet Central 28-19-25, Stagg 26-25-14: Gianna Petrelli chalked up 10 assists and 10 service points in setting the tone for host Stagg (11-6, 0-4) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.
Joliet West 25-20-25, Homewood-Flossmoor 18-25-22: Annalise Robinson distributed 13 assists, Skylar Hildebrand had 13 digs and Mackenzie Reid finished with six kills to lead visiting Homewood-Flossmoor (19-8, 1-3) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Helena Vallar (10 assists) also starred for the Vikings.
Beecher 25-25, Donovan 6-13: Savanah Stluka registered seven aces and four digs to vault host Beecher (13-8, 7-2) in the River Valley. Riley Bowler tacked on five kills for the Ladycats.
Illiana Christian 25-25, Ridgewood 16-13: Hannah Wegner finished with 18 assists and Kenzie VanRoekel slammed seven kills for host Illiana Christian (19-14, 9-3) in Metro Suburban play.
Volley for the Cure
Mother McAuley 25-25, Queen of Peace 10-11: Maddie Meyer collected 11 kills and 12 digs to spearhead host Mother McAuley (26-2, 6-0) in the GCAC Red. Courtney Joyce tacked on 21 assists for the Mighty Macs.
Andrew 3, Lincoln-Way North 0: Colin McLaughlin scored twice and Jesus Mendez once for host Andrew (6-8-2, 2-4) in the SouthWest Suburban Red.
Crete-Monee 8, Rich Central 0: Fernando Aguirre had two goals and two assists to lead visiting Crete-Monee (12-4-1, 7-2) in the Southland.
Bremen 4, Oak Lawn 0: Christian Lagunas’ two goals propelled host Bremen (16-4-1, 9-0) in the South Suburban crossover.
Stagg 4, Joliet West 1: Tom Krumpolc and Tim Buss were among the goal scorers for host Stagg (11-4, 4-2) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.
Argo 2, Eisenhower 1 (SO): Hector Flores, of Argo (7-7-1, 4-3) scored once in regulation and once in the penalty-kick shootout – which the Argonauts won 5-3 – in the South Suburban Red match.
Shepard 7, Evergreen Park 0: Casey Bledsoe (2 goals) starred for visiting Shepard (9-7-1, 8-3) in the South Suburban Red.
Bloom 7, Rich South 2: Juan Elizalde’s hat trick keyed host Bloom (14-4-2, 9-0) in the Southland.
Class 1A Chicago Christian Regional
Beecher 4, Illinois Lutheran 3: Gabe Fonseca scored two goals, including the winner, to lift Beecher (14-9-2) in semifinal play.
Chicago Christian 5, Peotone 1: Getenet Timmermans scored three goals – giving him a school record 35 for the season – to put Chicago Christian (10-9-3) in the championship.
Girls Swimming & Diving
Shepard 111, Bremen 70: Mary Lippert won the 50-yard freestyle (27.67 seconds) and 100 backstroke (1 minute, 11.36 seconds) to pace host Shepard in the South Suburban crossover. Bremen’s Kaitlin Lovrich prevailed in the 100 breaststroke (1:27.31).
Lemont 89, Oak Forest 82: Bridget Doherty prevailed in the 50 free (28.31) and 500 free (6:17.55) to spark visiting Lemont in the South Suburban Blue. Gretchen Behrens, of Oak Forest, was tops in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.30) and 200 individual medley (2:25.70).
St. Xavier 3, Calumet 0: Mariana Hoerr netted a pair of goals to pace host St. Xavier (4-8-1, 2-5) in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
