Football: St. Rita blocks Brother Rice 38-35

With 14 seconds to go in the fourth, Rita’s Julian Crum blocked a 37-yard field-goal attempt by Rice kicker Brian Kane. St. Rita is still in line for the Catholic League Blue title while Brother Rice is eliminated from playoff contention.
Rita QB Tommy Mister hit John Ladd for a 17-yard touchdown strike with 2:47 remaining to put the Mustangs (7-1, 2-1) up 38-35.
Mister threw for 187 yards and three touchdowns while also running for 181 yards and a rushing score. Crum had two TD receptions and a rushing score on his birthday.

Alex Alarcon (137 passing yards, 2 touchdowns) and Marcus Jones (138 rushing yards, 2 total touchdowns) led Rice (3-5, 0-3), Sal Perez scoring the TD that put the Crusaders up 35-31 with 5:41 remaining.
