Football: Lockport ends on a high note, tops Joliet West 49-31

Cory Savage scored three touchdowns and Davis Purviance was in on four takeaways as Lockport forced six turnovers and ended the season with a road victory. The Porters finished at 3-6, 3-4 in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Joliet West fell to 3-6, 1-6. The Tigers lost 6-of-7 after a 2-0 start.
THE TURNING POINT
Purviance had an interception and a fumble recovery in the first quarter. Both led to touchdowns, the second of which - an 8-yard run by Savage, put the Porters ahead 21-0 with 3:10 left in the opening quarter. Joliet West never got closer than 18 the rest of the way.
Savage, a junior running back, had 14 carries for 99 yards and scored on runs of 1, 8, and 33 yards. Purviance, a junior defensvive back, grabbed two interceptions and also had a pair of fumble recoveries.
BY THE NUMBERS
Lockport’s Tyler Johnson had 10 carries for 51 yards and a 5-yard TD run in the second quarter, before leaving with a bruised thumb. Jeremy Quade scored on a 4-yard TD run and completed 5-of-9 passes, all of them to Cody Andrus, for 43 yards - including a 21- yard TD. Andrus added a 27-yard TD run and had 5 carries for 63 yards. Ryan Reed added an interception and Tommy Bochenek had a fumble recovery and a sack for the Porters. Anthony DiNardo was 27-of-41 passing with 3 interceptions for 251 yards. The senior had a 19-yard TD pass to Niko Messino (7 catches - 80 yards). He also kicked a 28-yard field goal and had TD runs of 1, 9, and 6 yards. Ronald Banner had 11 receptions for 100 yards and Jordan Brown added 17 carries for 94 yards for the Tigers.
