Updated: January 9, 2014 6:45AM

THE SKINNY

Lockport guard Grover Anderson delivered a clutch basket with 33 seconds to play in the game to lead the Porters (3-3, 1-0) to a win over Joliet West (4-2, 0-1) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

TURNING POINT

Anderson’s basket from the right side put Lockport ahead 62-61 after a three-pointer by Joliet West’s D’Anthony Wright had given the Tigers a 61-60 lead in the seesaw battle.

THE STAR

Anderson led all scorers with 26 points.

BY THE NUMBERS

Lockport’s Ralph Blakney scored 15 points. The Porters’ John Campbell added 13. Wright led Joliet West with 15 points. Lockport shot 24-of-49 from the field. Joliet West shot 19-of-40.

QUOTABLE

“The key for us in the fourth quarter was not turning the ball over while going to the basket. We gave ourselves a chance to get to the free-throw line or get a layup.” — Lockport coach Lawrence Thompson Jr.
