Boys Basketball: St. Rita handles Providence 78-63

St. Rita (6-4, 3-0) trailed just once, 5-4 in the opening minutes, and rode a balanced effort to the home victory in the Catholic League South.
Down 39-32 at the half, the Celtics (7-7, 1-4) got to within 41-38 on a three-point play from Nate Vejvoda with 5:49 left in the third. St. Rita responded with a 14-0 run over the next three minutes. Charles Matthews (18 points, 5 rebounds) and Vic Law (17 points, 7 rebounds) each hit three-pointers during the surge, and the Mustangs forced turnovers on five consecutive Providence possessions.
Armani Chaney came off the bench to provide 14 points – including eight during the key third-quarter surge – and six assists for the Mustangs. He shot 6-of-7 from the field.

Treston Forbes (5 rebounds), Dominique Matthews and Khalen Davis had nine points each for St. Rita, which finished 29-of-53 from the field. Tyler Pygon (15 points), Miles Boykin (14 points, 6 rebounds) and Jack Brody (10 points, 5 rebounds) led Providence.
