Boys Basketball: Richards outlasts Tinley Park

THE SKINNY

With 4:36 remaining in the game, the Bulldogs snapped a 66-all tie, outscoring the Titans 17-9 down the stretch en route to the South Suburban crossover victory.

TURNING POINT

Dedrick Shannon, in his first game back in two weeks and whom coach John Chappetto describes as the team’s leader, scored 11 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter for Richards (10-3, 5-0 South Suburban Red).

THE STARS

Josh Meier led the Bulldogs on the scoresheet with 23 points and nine rebounds, Spencer Tears chipped in 13 points and Thaer Othman finished with 11 points. Tyrone VanOsten led the Titans (4-9, 2-3 South Suburban Blue) with 17 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter.

BY THE NUMBERS

The Bulldogs made 20-of-37 free-throw attempts to 13-of-20 by Tinley Park.
