Girls Basketball

Mount Assisi 50, Holy Trinity 13: Sabrina Miller and Marykate Wetzel scored eight points each for host Mount Assisi (7-12, 3-3) in the GCAC White.

Rich East 63, Kankakee 27: Ashley Dennis had 16 points and Jada Banks scored 15 to propel host Rich East (7-8, 1-4). Jordan Towery added 13 points for the Rockets in the Southland.

Boys Bowling

Sandburg 2,146, Reavis 1,832: Brandon Flores recorded meet bests with a 246 game and 472 series in lifting Sandburg at Orland Bowl. Brandon Goeringer added a 461 series for the Eagles. Matt Sammon (213 game) and Matt Wolfe (379 series) led Reavis.

Girls Bowling

Sandburg 1,553, Chicago Christian 1,323: Sandburg’s Jessica Colson had 212 game and 358 series at Orland Bowl. Maddie Gowgiel chipped in a 172 game and 321 series for the Eagles.

Lincoln-Way North 1,529, Eisenhower 1,483: Sarah Berger’s 328 series boosted Lincoln-Way North at Tinley Park Bowl.

Romeoville 2,506, Rich South 1,868: Tania Smith had 169 game and 478 series over three games to pace Rich South at Lakewood Bowl. Romeoville’s Kaitlyn Maquera led all competitors with a 204 game and 577 series.

Wrestling

Lincoln-Way East 36, Joliet West 25: Brendan Gaynor (138 pounds), Brian Burns (152), Vince Sparks (195), Lucas Rosenbaum (220) and Nick Allegretti (heavyweight) garnered pins for host Lincoln-Way East (16-8). Patrick McGowan (145) and Williams Hill (170) added victories by decision for the Griffins in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Men’s Basketball

Cardinal Stritch 84, St. Francis 78 (OT): Mark Peters (6 rebounds) and Chris Miller racked up 14 points apiece for visiting St. Francis (7-10, 4-3) against the reigning NAIA Division II national champion. Edvinas Presniakovas tacked on 13 points and six rebounds for the Saints in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Holy Cross 64, Trinity Christian 60: Jared Jones totaled a team-high 22 points for host Trinity Christian (4-14, 0-7). Jake VanDenBerg added 14 points and a game-best 17 rebounds for the Trolls in the CCAC.

Joliet Junior College 80, Triton 76: Leon Gray posted 26 points and seven rebounds to spark visiting Joliet Junior College (13-6, 3-0) in Region IV. Larry Moore added 13 points for the Wolves, Zoran Arsenovic (7 rebounds) scored 13 and Todd Brown had 10.

Women’s Basketball

St. Xavier 92, Illinois Tech 42: Double-doubles by Morgan Stuut (11 points, 18 rebounds) and Caitlin McMahon (10 points, 10 rebounds) powered host St. Xavier (16-3) to its 11th straight win. Magaret Wildner and Maloree Johnson added 11 points each for the Cougars and Meaghan McMahon scored 10.

Cardinal Stritch 76, St. Francis 71: Katie Gonnering finished with 22 points and eight rebounds to lead visiting St. Francis (3-16, 1-5) in the CCAC. Alexis Brown tacked on 15 points for the Saints and Kaitlyn Ray scored 10.

Trinity Christian 59, Holy Cross 53: Allie Paluchniak had 14 points and seven rebounds to aid host Trinity Christian (6-13, 2-6) in the CCAC. Caitlin Cody added 12 points 11 rebounds for the Trolls, whose other contributors included Erynn Schuh (11 points, 5 rebounds) and Rebecca DeHaan (8 points, 10 rebounds).

Joliet Junior College 71, Triton 56: Le’Royia Campbell totaled 21 points, four rebounds and four steals to spur visiting Joliet Junior College (7-10, 2-1) in the Region IV game.

College

SXU to enshrine five: St. Xavier will hold its 2014 Hall of Fame Awards and Induction ceremony on Feb. 1 in the Butler Reception Room on the Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd St. The event begins with a social hour from 6 p.m.-7 p.m., followed by dinner and the ceremony. The five individuals scheduled for induction are Mike Dooley (baseball coach), Luke Gregerson (baseball), Lissa Coby (women’s soccer), Traci Looby (volleyball) and Chris Rodgers (football).
