Bowling: Big numbers abound across Southland

At the halfway mark of the 2013-14 league bowling season, here’s a look at who are the kings and queens of the lanes, average-wise, in the Southland.
Tom Finnen Jr. is the top gun in the Al Motz Classic League at Lynwood Bowl, where he’s averaging 243. Aimee Boehrnsen leads the way in the Lynwood Classic League with a 218 average.
Kevin Kullman, who was the Chicagoland United States Bowling Congress Bowler of the Year in 2010, carries a 243 average at Centennial Lanes in Tinley Park. On the women’s side at Centennial, Melissa Stadt is tops with a 215 average in the Wednesday Rhino League.
Chris Schuch’s 243 average is best in the Wednesday Men’s Bowling League at Orland Bowl. Schuch’s female counterpart at Orland is Pegge Schubbe, who has a 216 average in the Tuesday Nite Ladies League.
At Palos Lanes in Palos Hills, Bill Gusczco carries a 234 average in the Friday Early Bombers League. Kia Giddings has a lanes-best 210 in the Worth Mixed-Up Mixed League.
Lan-Oak Bowl in Lansing’s top male bowler is Robert Wegley, who averages 236 in the Thursday Morning UAW Ford Night Owls League. Pat Quayle is the top woman bowler with a 213 in the Wednesday Night Mixmates.
At Lakewood Bowl in Richton Park, Aaron Horton and John Heath are tied for top average among the men at 232. Horton competes in the C300 Jesse Brown VAMC League, Heath in the Chalmers Tyler Mixed League. Brandy Grove Peterson is the top woman bowler at Lakewood with a 228 average in the Ladies Legends Trio League.
The top bowler at Arena Lanes in Oak Lawn is Ryan Funk, who has a 233 average in the Southwest Businessmen’s League. Destiny Miller averages 204 in the Queens Teams League.
At Tinley Park Bowl, Dale Laurinas has the highest men’s average at 238 in the Friday Classic League. Denise Driscoll carries a 202 mark in the Monday Nite Ladies League.
Leslie Outerbridge leads the men at Burr Oak Bowl in Blue Island with a 234 average in the Show Me The Money Mixed League, while in the same league Erica Merritt paces the women with a 212 average.
James Herman tops the list of male bowlers at Castaways Lanes in Calumet City with a 231 average in the Sunday Afternoon Mixed 2 League, while Kia Giddings, from the same league, is the best among the women at 199.
At Dolton Bowl, Travis Mitchell carries a 232 average in the Thursday Teachers League. Leslie Gillie tops the women with a 208 in the Wednesday Nite Mixed League.
At Laraway Lanes in New Lenox, the leader among male bowlers is Robert Shepherd, who averages 217 in the Late Niter’s League. Nicole Zopf carries a 194 mark in the Junior/Majors League.
At Strike & Spare II in Lockport, Wade Gayhart leads the men with a 240 average in the Friday Classic League. Nicole Troha carries a 197 average in the Thursday Youth League.
At Thunder Bowl in Mokena, Michael Jamieson Jr. is tops in the Thursday Night Miller Men’s League with a 220 average, while Kelsey O’Brien carries a 206 mark in the Saturday Two-Timers League.
El-Mar Bowl’s top male bowler is Vince Catalano, who’s averaging 227 in the Wednesday Night Mixed. Kathy Mayers maintains a 186 average in the St. Renee’s League.
At Oak Forest Bowl, Mike Skowronski is at the top of the average list in the Friday Night Sportsman’s League. Among the women, Ashley Tenerelli carries a house-leading 210 in Monday Night Ladies League.
Tom Heniff is the top bowler at Crest Hill Lanes with a 225 average in the East Star Mixed League.
The top woman bowler at Brunswick Zone Homewood is Leslie Gillie, who carries a 198 average in the Friday Morning Practice League. Shaun Quinn paces the men with a 226 mark in the Rippin’ The Rack Men’s League.
