After looking a step slow in the first half, Justin Taylor helped Thornton find the throttle in the third quarter en route to a victory in the SouthWest Suburban Red.
Lincoln-Way Central’s Brad Bass buried a three-pointer to bring the Knights to within five in the pivotal third frame, but Thornton answered with a 16-4 scoring spell fueled by Taylor’s reverse layup and two-handed jam to seize a 39-22 advantage.
Taylor scored all 12 of his points in the third quarter after an 0-for-7 showing from the field. The 6-foot-6 senior added eight rebounds, four steals and two blocks.

“I didn’t come out with as much energy as I usually do in the first half. So I wanted to come out hot in the second half and play how I know I can play.” — Taylor
