THE SKINNY

Rich East (12-3, 4-2) forced 27 turnovers and rolled to the Southland Conference win in Park Forest. The victory avenged a Dec. 6 loss to the Warriors (11-9, 3-3).

TURNING POINT

Down as many as 17 points in the first half, Crete-Monee pulled to within 43-37 midway through the third quarter. The Rockets responded with a 14-3 surge, six points coming from Nick Harden, to open the big lead back up.

THE STAR

Harden was at the forefront of the Rockets’ press and was its biggest beneficiary. He finished with 18 points, five assists and four rebounds, and had three steals during the key third-quarter response.

BY THE NUMBERS

Quinton Moore finished with 16 points, Calvin Harrington 10 points and Don Henderson nine points and eight rebounds for the Rockets, who shot 32-of-68 from the field. Tyler Williams (21 points) and Brandon Johnson (20 points, 11 rebounds) led Crete-Monee, which shot 22-of-50.

QUOTABLE

“Ever since they beat us, we’ve been intense every second in practice. Our ‘D’ gets us going. From the jump, we’re on you with our defense.” — Harden
