Boys Basketball

Thornton 73, Andrew 53: Justin Taylor had 15 points and six rebounds to power visiting Thornton (14-5, 8-2) in the SouthWest Suburban Red. Jamani Pierce added 14 points for the Wildcats, while Leslie Wilson and Da’Marques Turner each had 11. Gino Karopoulos had 15 points for Andrew (4-16, 1-9) and Luke Hook (7 rebounds) scored 12.

Eisenhower 76, Rich South 73: Vinny Curta piled up 27 points for visiting Eisenhower (10-15). Isiah Core James had 19 points to lead Rich South (10-11).

Homewood-Flossmoor 58, Joliet West 44: Tai Odiase and Malcolm Grady posted 14 points apiece to steer host Homewood-Flossmoor (12-8, 8-2). Emmanuel Watts chipped in 10 points for the Vikings in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Joliet Catholic 60, Aurora Central Catholic 57: Drake Fellows scored 20 points and Jalen Jackson 17 to vault host Joliet Catholic (8-15).

St. Laurence 60, Argo 51: Quentin Forberg scored 14 points and Rich Lamb had 13 for visiting St. Laurence (5-16). Tyler Mitchell, of Argo (8-14), led all scorers with 15 points.

Brother Rice 49, Kennedy 38: Mike Shepski had 12 points to steer visiting Brother Rice (11-11). Jack Collins (11 points) and Kevin Badali (10) also contributed for the Crusaders.

Oak Lawn 65, Fenton 51: David Stacy piled up 23 points and Leo Nelson 17 for visiting Oak Lawn (8-12).

Bloom 74, Kankakee 62: Jared Johnson’s 20 points keyed visiting Bloom (13-7, 6-1) in the Southland. James Coleman added 16 points for the Blazing Trojans and Mickhiell Harris had 14.

Marian Central Catholic 69, Chicago Christian 52: Trevor Wolterink had 15 points and five rebounds for visiting Chicago Christian (7-14, 1-7) in the Suburban Christian Gold.

Leo 74, Evergreen Park 62: Darius Oliver delivered a game-best 27 points to pace host Leo (9-11). Tony Weathersby had 18 points for Evergreen Park (10-12).

Peotone 46, Shepard 44: Darren Cohen recorded 15 points and Jacob Littleton chipped in 11 to boost visiting Shepard (8-13).

Gardner-South Wilmington 53, Illinois Lutheran 44: Collin Borns (19 points) and Mack Newson (11) led visiting Illinois Lutheran (12-4, 7-3) in the River Valley.

Joliet Central 61, Lincoln-Way East 48: Mike Weller scored a team-best 12 points for visiting Lincoln-Way East (6-15, 1-9) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Grant Park 57, Beecher 51: Dallas Saddler scored 12 points to lead visiting Beecher (5-17, 2-10) in the River Valley.

Francis Parker 82, Morgan Park Academy 63: Jack Kupferberg totaled 36 points and 15 rebounds to lift host Francis Parker (15-8, 6-5) in the Independent School League. Morgan Park Academy dropped to 7-15, 3-8.

Girls Basketball

T.F. South 55, T.F. North 42: Ninah Bertrand had 19 points and Ren’Cia Rolling scored 14 to spark visiting T.F. South (20-4, 11-1) in the South Suburban Blue. Tyra Johnson led T.F. North (7-13, 4-8) with 19 points and 18 rebounds. Chanel Howard added 15 points for the Meteors and Esther Fagbemi grabbed 19 rebounds.

Stagg 58, Joliet Central 44: Casey McMahon had 21 points and Hannah Henderson 12 to propel visiting Stagg (11-13, 5-8) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Chicago Christian 52, Marian Central Catholic 49: Kaycee Pittman chalked up 18 points to boost visiting Chicago Christian (8-15, 4-7). Anna Persenaire had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Knights in the Suburban Christian Gold.

Lincoln-Way North 51, Thornwood 37: Kayla Kieklak posted a game-high 17 points for visiting Lincoln-Way North (21-5, 11-2). Ellen Graham chipped in eight points and 12 rebounds for the Phoenix in the SouthWest Suburban Red. Breneka Walker’s 15 points were the most for Thornwood.

Homewood-Flossmoor 84, Sandburg 23: Kristen Moore totaled 17 points, eight assists and four rebounds to lift host Homewood-Flossmoor (20-2, 13-0). Amarah Coleman (17 points) and Faith Suggs (16) also starred for the Vikings in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Sandburg dropped to 15-12, 6-7.

Oak Lawn 77, Eisenhower 23: Jannah Mahmoud had 24 points for host Oak Lawn (24-1, 11-1) in the South Suburban Red. The Spartans also received 18 points from Brianna Markusic and 13 from LaTondra Brooks.

Lincoln-Way East 66, Joliet West 34: Kara Krolicki contributed 20 points and Claire McMahon 14 to carry visiting Lincoln-Way East (20-4, 11-2) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Bolingbrook 54, Lockport 51: Naomi Mayes (15 points) was the top scorer for host Lockport (9-14, 4-9) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Young 77, Bloom 54: Danielle King recorded 25 points and five rebounds for host Bloom (10-14).

Richards 60, Shepard 50: Carly Stazak scored 15 points and Sydni Tears netted 13 to lead host Richards (12-11, 5-7). Taylor Sonichsen added 12 points for the Bulldogs in the South Suburban Red. Dae Jae Williams provided 13 points for Shepard (5-19, 2-9).

Class 1A Morgan Park Academy Regional

Morgan Park Academy 45, Illinois Lutheran 27: Bhy Williams had 13 points to help Morgan Park Academy (13-10) advance to the championship.

Class 2A Seton Regional

Illiana Christian 66, St. Francis de Sales 18: Gabby Kreykes had 17 points and seven rebounds to lead Illiana Christian (11-16) in a semifinal.

Seton 74, Carver 20: Ebony Bailey chalked up 15 points to pace Seton in the semifinal. Brittany Hardeman added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Sting.

Men’s Volleyball

Cardinal Stritch 22-25-25-22-15, St. Xavier 25-19-16-25-6: Sean Barry had 11 kills and Moises Lopez 35 assists to lead host St. Xavier (1-9, 1-3). Justin Cousin and J.T. O’Connell added 10 kills each for the Cougars in the Great Lakes Division of the Mid-America Men’s Volleyball Intercollegiate Conference.
