Fenwick used a 12-2 spurt at the end of the third quarter and the beginning of the fourth quarter to build their lead to 52-40 with 6:02 remaining in the game. Leo got no closer than 10 points the rest of the way.

THE STARS

Fenwick’s Dan Dwyer scored 14 points and had 12 rebounds, while teammate Tom Planek added 14 points and 10 rebounds.

BY THE NUMBERS

Leo’s Darias Oliver led all scorers with 26 points, scoring all 16 of Leo’s points in the second quarter. He was limited to two points in the third and fourth quarters. The Lions’ Darius Branch added 12 points. Mike Smith had 17 points for Fenwick and Scott Lindsey added 10.

QUOTABLE

“The key for us was getting the ball inside, using our length and playing defense in the second half. The Leo guy (Oliver) was killing us until we decided to play some defense.” — Fenwick coach Rick Malanati
