SouthWest Suburban Conference champion Maggie Schultz tried to gut it out at the Hinsdale Central Sectional on Wednesday but couldn’t compete in all four events.
The Lincoln-Way co-op sophomore, who was saddled with the flu on Monday and Tuesday, scored an 8.175 on the vault, a 6.72 on the even bars and a 3.95 on the beam and did not compete in the floor exercise.
“She did all her body could handle,” Lincoln-Way coach Kim Lago said.
It was that kind of night for the team, which finished with a 134.125 after enjoying high 130 scores during the season.
“There were a lot of falls and it was not a good night,” Lago said. “The bars were upside down during warmups and that sort of set the tone for the meet for us.’’
If Schultz, sophomore Mallory Winter, junior Shelby Wiktor and freshman Kara Auchsetter return and junior Kaila Pohrte returns to form after a knee injury, Lincoln-Way figures to make much more noise in the sectional next year.
