Boys Basketball: Hillcrest gets past Tinley Park, gains conference share

Hillcrest (18-6, 11-1) won its 11th straight game and clinched at least a share of the South Suburban Blue title, its 26th consecutive conference crown, as George McDaniel exploded for 31 points and 17 rebounds in Country Club Hills. The Hawks can win the Blue outright with a victory over T.F. South.
Up 42-38 at halftime, Hillcrest used third-quarter surges of 13-3 and 8-0 to pull away. DeAngelo Isby scored all six of his points in the period.
McDaniel, who notched career highs in points and rebounds, had 23 points and 11 rebounds in the first half, connecting on nine of his first 12 shots from the field.
BY THE NUMBERS
Taylor Adway had 13 points and five rebounds and Almari Daniels seven points for the Hawks, who shot 32-of-64 from the field. Femi Elutilo (16 points, 7 rebounds), Kelvin Dorsey (13 points) and Billy Johnson (11 points, 7 steals) led Tinley Park (7-15, 3-9), which was 26-of-64.
