Boys Basketball: Thornton pulls away from Lincoln-Way North

Looking to go into the state playoffs on a hot streak, Thornton (17-5, 10-2) rolled over Lincoln-Way North in the SouthWest Suburban Red game in Harvey. Thornton earned the No. 3 seed at its own Class 4A sectional and will play at the Lincoln-Way Central Regional.
With its defense leading to offense, the Wildcats went up 15-6 early and 17-10 through one quarter off North turnovers. Justin Taylor had 10 points in the first period, while, Da’Marques Turner (13 points) added five.
Taylor finished with 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists for Thornton.
BY THE NUMBERS
North (3-19, 1-11) committed 11 first-half turnovers, including six in the first quarter. The Phoenix was led by Jaylen Branch’s 11 points and six rebounds. Kenny Christensen had seven points off the bench. Robert McCalley scored 13 points off the bench for Thornton as 11 different Wildcats scored.
