Boys Basketball: Bolingbrook clips Sandburg

THE SKINNY

Conference champion Bolingbrook (20-5, 12-2) had a 48-39 lead going into the fourth quarter but had to hold in the final seconds to secure the SouthWest Suburban Blue win. Three different Raiders split two free throws during the last 30 seconds. Kenny Williams had a team-high 12 points while teammate Gage Davis added 11.

TURNING POINT

Bolingbrook led 31-26 at halftime and seemingly broke the game open in the third quarter when Davis made back-to-back three-pointers to extend the Raiders’ lead to 40-28 with 5:22 left in the quarter. Sandburg (9-17, 5-9) used a 12-3 fourth-quarter run to tie the game at 51 with 1:40 left.

THE STAR

Sandburg’s Niko Kogionis scored a game-high 17 points (6-of-14 shooting). Five of his six baskets were three-pointers.

BY THE NUMBERS

Bolingbrook was 20-of-44 from the floor in the game and made 9-of-16 free-throws (4-of-9 in fourth quarter). Sandburg connected on 18-of-44 field goals (7-of-15 on treys).
