THE SKINNY

St. Viator spoiled host Mount Carmel’s Senior Night as Mark Falotico (14 points) sealed the win with two free throws with 13 seconds remaining in the game.

TURNING POINT

With the score tied at 49 entering the fourth period, St. Viator (21-5) went on a 12-3 spurt, with Ore Arogundade hitting a three-pointer from the top of the key and Patrick McNamara (14 points) scoring on a fast-break bucket off a pass from Roosevelt Smart (13 points) .

THE STAR

Arogundade. Held to just five points in the first half, St. Viator’s all-time leading scorer blew up for 18 points in the second half.

BY THE NUMBERS

Mount Carmel (20-8) trimmed a double-digit deficit down to 66-63 with 54 seconds remaining but couldn’t quite get over the hump in the final minute. David Nichols (23 points), Gabe Grant (20 points, 17 rebounds) and Christian Searles (11 points) paced the Caravan.

QUOTABLE

“Our energy was unacceptable, so we needed to come out stronger (in the second half). We’re a team that likes to come back ,even if we don’t want to be in that position. We’re a resilient team. We’re in a good spot. This was a good test for us going into the playoffs.” — Arogundade
