Class 3A State Semifinal
Montini 34, Burlington Central 26: Kelly Karlis scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead Montini (33-2) at Normal’s Redbird Arena. Lea Kerstein added eight points for the Broncos and Sara Ross had eight rebounds. Sam Pryor posted 11 points and six rebounds to guide Burlington Central (27-5).
Class 4A State Semifinal
Rolling Meadows 51, Geneva 43: Alexis Glasgow totaled 18 points and six rebounds to spark Rolling Meadows (29-4) at Redbird Arena. Jackie Kemph tacked on 13 points for the Mustangs and Jenny Vliet netted 11. Grace Loberg (9 rebounds) and Morgan Seberger put in 12 points each for Geneva (26-6).
Class 3A Kankakee Regional
Rich East 61, Rich South 51: Quinton Moore poured in 20 points to propel Rich East (21-4) in the championship. Don Henderson chipped in 15 points for the Rockets and Calvin Harrington scored 14. Jeremy Ruffin provided 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead Rich South (12-15).
Great Lakes Valley
Southern Indiana 92, Lewis 74: Julian Lewis posted team highs with 25 points and seven rebounds for Lewis (21-6) in the quarterfinal in Evansville, Ind. Kyle Nelson added 18 points for the Flyers and Ryan Jackson had 14.
Alvin 6, South Suburban 5: Matt Hoge doubled twice and recorded two RBI to pace visiting South Suburban in its season opener.
Wayne State 2-5, Lewis 1-3: Austin Mastela blasted a home run for Lewis (5-6) in the seven-inning opener. Phil Warner (0-1) surrendered five hits and struck out nine in pitching a complete game for the Flyers in Winter Haven, Fla. Joel Rotkvich had a pair of RBI for Lewis in the nine-inning nightcap.
Bellevue 5, St. Francis 2: Luke Wyss (run) collected the only hit for St. Francis (7-11) in Lake Wales, Fla. Adam Panayotovich (1-1) allowed three earned runs and struck out eight over six innings for the Saints.
St. Francis 6, Siena Heights 2: Brandon Mendoza’s three-run double in the bottom of the first set the tone for St. Francis in its opener. Jacob Butler (2-1) gave up seven hits and fanned seven in going the route for the Saints in Avon Park, Fla.
St. Francis 6, Cornerstone 5: Natalie Ward’s single in the bottom of the seventh scored Kiley Southall with the winning run for St. Francis (3-5) in Clermont, Fla.
St. Francis 9, Hannibal-LaGrange 0: Caitlyn Balandis (2-2) tossed a perfect game for St. Francis in the six-inning contest. Jessica Kuester (2-for-2, 2 runs) contributed a two-run homer and three RBI for the Saints in their first contest of the day.
