There are a lot of unknown factors going into this season for the three Southland teams and many questions aren’t going to be answered right away, but Lincoln-Way co-op freshman Kaleb Hong is ringing in with a big first impression.
Hong won the all-around with a 40.900 on Tuesday to help Lincoln-Way score 120.700 and easily beat Hinsdale South (111.600) and Lake Park (103.500) in Frankfort.
Sophomore Karson Kokotan also looked good as he tied for first in the floor exercise with an 8.1 and won the vault with a 9.0.
Junior Tyler Greenberg and Hong tied for first in the still rings with a 7.5, while Hong won the horizontal bar with a 6.2 and Greenberg won the rings with a 7.5.
The three area teams, Lincoln-Way, the Andrew co-op and Homewood-Flossmoor, will face each other along with state powers Lyons and Mundelein on Friday at Homewood-Flossmoor.
