Boys Water Polo

Brother Rice 15, Mount Carmel 3: Dan Birmingham had four goals and Luke Healy had three to guide host Brother Rice (1-0, 1-0) in the Metro Catholic Aquatics Conference.

St. Patrick 15, St. Rita 6: Conor O’Rourke and Joseph Gibson scored five goals apiece for host St. Patrick (1-0, 1-0) in the MCAC.

Girls Water Polo

Andrew 20, Stagg 1: Genny McCarthy scored five goals to propel host Andrew (1-0) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover. Aoife Burke, Caily Friel and Megan Hofer added hat tricks for the Thunderbolts to support goalie Anna Tamulonis (8 saves).

College Baseball

South Suburban 4, Galveston 3: Jake Hickey had two RBI and Antonio Majstorov pitched a complete game to lift visiting South Suburban (1-2) in the nine-inning contest.

Alvin 16, South Suburban 4: Bobby Morgan’s two hits and two RBI led visiting South Suburban in its first game of the day.

Volunteer State 10-9, Joliet Junior College 8-6: Nick Fleischauer posted three RBI for visiting Joliet Junior College (1-5) in Game 1. Colten Trager hit a two-run double and T.J. Condon added a two-run single for the Wolves in the nightcap.

Men’s Golf

Christian Brothers Spring Invitational: Lewis (305) was sixth out of 11 teams after the opening round in Memphis. Alex Thode led the Flyers with a 2-over 72. Ryan Frederick and Jeremy Fraser added rounds of 76 for Lewis. Centenary (289) occupied first place.

College Softball

St. Xavier 1, Lourdes 0: Kasey Kanaga’s flyout in the bottom of the sixth scored pinch-runner Denise Anderson to boost St. Xavier (8-0) in Clermont, Fla. Nicole Nonnemacher (3-0) pitched a one-hitter and struck out 15 to aid the Cougars. St. Xavier began the day with a 3-2 win over Spring Arbor.

Ave Maria 4, Trinity Christian 1: Bailan Reynolds’ bases-loaded walk brought in Anna Phillips with the run for Trinity Christian (1-3) in Clermont, Fla. Adrianna Puente (0-1) allowed two earned runs on four hits in tossing a complete game for the Trolls. Trinity opened with an 8-7 loss to Marian (Ind.) in Winter Garden, Fla.
