Baseball

Coach Bob Invitational

Peoria (Ariz.) Liberty 4, Marist 3: Pat Meehan (2-for-3, run) stroked a pair of run-scoring singles to pace visiting Marist (1-2) in Peoria. Blake Bieniek scored two runs for the RedHawks and Ryan Kairis added an RBI groundout.

Softball

Immaculate Conception 6, Illiana Christian 5: Jessica Bombino (1-for-2, 2 runs) smashed a three-run triple to lead visiting Illiana Christian in its season opener.

Girls Soccer

Windy City Ram Classic

Lincoln-Way North 4, Shepard 1: Sarah Mirabella netted a pair of goals in helping host Lincoln-Way North (2-0) advance to the quarterfinals. Bianca Galassini and Rachel Pappas also scored for the Phoenix. In the other match at Lincoln-Way North, Bremen edged Beecher 2-1 to qualify for the consolation quarterfinals.

Badminton

Oak Lawn 11, Bradley 4: Tara Hill prevailed at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles to spark host Oak Lawn.

Boys Water Polo

Morgan Park 13, Lincoln Park 8: Christian Cooper contributed six goals and six saves for Morgan Park (3-3, 2-1) in the Public League Division II.

Girls Water Polo

Homewood-Flossmoor 8, Waubonsie Valley 7 (OT): Jamila Jenkins scored twice in the extra session to lift host Homewood-Flossmoor (2-2). Megan Dunlavy netted a hat trick for the Vikings, who also received a pair of goals from Amber Barney.

Women’s Softball

St. Francis 12-16, Benedictine-Springfield 3-1: Lexi Southall went a combined 5-for-8 with five runs and five RBI to power visiting St. Francis (5-7). Southall’s output included a three-run homer and two-run double in the six-inning opener. Tori Johnson (4-for-4, 3 RBI) and Natalie Ward (3-for-3, 3 runs, 2 RBI) were among the standouts in the five-inning nightcap.
