Baseball

Brother Rice 1, Plainfield East 0: Mike Enrqiuez allowed two hits in five innings and Andrew Dyke drove in the lone run as Brother Rice (3-1) pulled out the victory. Kevin Biondic pitched two innings of relief to record the save.

Lockport 5, Warren 3: Ryan Dalton went 2-for-2 with a triple and drove in three runs to help Lockport earn a win at the Southern Illinois Miners Showcase in downstate Marion. Tyler Hair and Jeremy Quade each scored twice for the Porters.

Harrisburg 2, Lockport 1: Franky Diaz’s grounder brought in Ryan Dalton with the run for Lockport (2-1) in its second game.

St. Laurence 8, Rincon (Ariz.) 5: Mike Miller (2-for-2, 2 runs) and Kevin White smashed two-run singles to boost St. Laurence (3-0) in Tuscon, Ariz. Brad Wood (3-for-4) added two runs and an RBI for the Vikings.

St. Rita 5, Oak Lawn 0: Tyler Halas tossed five scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out eight, to earn his first victory of the season for St. Rita (3-0). Chris Delgadillo tripled and recorded an RBI.

GIRLS SOCCER

Lincoln-Way Central 7, Mother McAuley 1: Paige Proctor had a hat trick and Alivia Crowhurst added two more goals as Lincoln-Way Central (1-1-1) eased to victory.

Lincoln-Way East 2, Leyden 0: Jill Kilrea scored a goal and assisted on Emily Sciana’s goal to power Lincoln-Way East.

Marian Catholic 2, Romeoville 0: Hailey Losselyong netted two goals and Kelly Mindak notched an assist as Marian Catholic (3-1) advanced to the consolation final of the Windy City Classic. Sarah Sieracki recorded three saves in the shutout.

Marist 1, Payton 0: Nora Englehart had the goal for Marist (1-0-1).

Boys Volleyball

Lincoln-Way Central d. St. Rita 25-10, 25-16: Neal Brown notched seven kills and Mike Kulinski had 21 assists to guide Lincoln-Way Central (2-0).

Lincoln-Way East d. Payton 25-10, 25-15: Austin Royer had 20 assists to go along with three kills to lead Lincoln-Way East to a season-opening victory.

Boys Tennis

Lockport 6, Romeoville 1: Pat Piwoni and Lucas Pindak prevailed at No. 1 doubles for visiting Lockport. Bryan Hecker and Nolan Witkowsi added a win at No. 2 doubles for the Porters.

College Baseball

Joliet Junior College 10-10, Highland 0-0: Joliet Junior College improved to 8-8 on the season after sweeping the doubleheader. Tyler Thorson went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBI in Game 1, while Matt DeGraw pitched a two-hitter to earn the victory. In Game 2, Thomas Goodyear got the mound decision, allowing one hit in five innings. Kenny Milosovic went 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Men’s College Volleyball

Lakeland d. St. Xavier 25-16, 25-22, 25-27, 25-18: Justin Cousin had a team-best 13 kills with 11 digs and Moises Lopez recorded 31 assists as St. Xavier came up short against Lakeland. Sam Kull added 11 kills with four blocks and two aces for the Cougars (5-14).
