Baseball

Joliet Catholic 4, Dearborn (Mich.) Divine Child 3: Nick Dalesandro (2-for-2) hit an RBI single and also scored the final run to lead host Joliet Catholic. Alex Ragusa added two RBI for the Hilltoppers.

Reavis 4, Evergreen Park 0: Belal Abuzir allowed six hits and struck out six in pitching a complete game for host Reavis (6-10, 3-4). George Hernandez and Abe Kheireddin (2-for-2, 2 runs) stroked RBI singles for the Rams and Jake Aguilar tacked on a sacrifice fly. Tim Walsh went 2-for-3 for Evergreen Park (5-7, 4-4).

Brother Rice 12, St. Ignatius 2: Andrew Dyke (3-for-4) doubled twice and drove in six runs to carry host Brother Rice (17-3, 6-0) in the five-inning Catholic League crossover. Kevin Sullivan (3-for-3) had three stolen bases and four runs for the Crusaders. Mike Enriquez (4-1) was touched for two hits in going the route for the winners.

Joliet West 5, Stagg 1: Peter Angelos posted a sacrifice fly for visiting Stagg (6-11, 2-2) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Lemont 2, Bremen 1: Mike Wisz singled home Mike Papierski twice — the second time with the score tied in the sixth inning — to vault host Lemont (13-1, 6-0) in the South Suburban Blue. David Strom had an RBI single for Bremen (9-9, 2-5).

Mount Carmel 5, De La Salle 2: Ako Thomas (4-for-4, 2 runs) had three RBI and Jeremy Houston scored twice for host Mount Carmel (14-2, 6-0). Mike Lorenzi (6 innings) and Scott Kapers combined to allow five hits and strike out seven for the Caravan in the Catholic League crossover. James Baran swatted a solo homer for De La Salle (6-7, 3-5).

T.F. South 2, Marian Catholic 1: Edgar Camarena’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh capped a two-run rally for T.F. South (10-6). Luiscarlo Avila walked and scored on an error for Marian Catholic (9-7).

Lincoln-Way West 6, Bradley 2: Dan Laberry hit a two-run single and Andrew Clavenna (2 earned runs, 5 hits) pitched six innings to lead host Lincoln-Way West (15-0, 4-0) in the SouthWest Suburban Red.

St. Laurence 7, St. Joseph 4: Rob Gutierrez and Kevin White each recorded two RBI and Mike Kornacker scored two runs to aid host St. Laurence (15-2, 4-1) in the Catholic League crossover.

Providence 6, Gordon Tech 5: Dylan Rosa’s single with two outs in the bottom of the eighth scored Jackson Stulas with the deciding run for Providence (15-5, 6-0) in the Catholic League crossover. Phil Kunsa tacked on two RBI for the Celtics.

Crete-Monee 9, Rich East 2: Logan Kent (3-for-4) had three RBI and Justin Kozinski (2-for-3) had two RBI for visiting Crete-Monee (6-7, 4-1) in the Southland.

Beecher 13, Gardner-South Wilmington 3: Zac Ruzich’s three-run homer and Chase Wyatt’s grand slam were the big blows during a nine-run third inning for host Beecher (11-5, 8-0) in the River Valley. Wyatt (earned run) also struck out seven in pitching all five innings for the Bobcats.

Lincoln-Way Central 5, Oak Forest 3: Ryan Earll smacked a two-run double and Tony Kestel scored twice to lift visiting Lincoln-Way Central (12-4). Oak Forest fell to 12-5.

Sandburg 13, Shepard 1: Alec Martinez (4-for-4) had three RBI and Dan Santiago (2-for-3) scored twice to power host Sandburg (11-4) in the five-inning affair. Bryan Pall (4 innings) tossed a three-hitter and struck out nine for the Eagles. Shepard dropped to 5-9.

Seton 13, Leo 3: Greg Alexander’s three RBI led host Seton (4-5) in its Catholic League Red opener.

Proviso West 6, T.F. North 4: Mike Szablewski (4-for-4) had two runs and two RBI for visiting T.F. North (5-11).

Illinois Lutheran 18, Tri-Point 3: Sam Geraci (2-for-3) had four RBI and Joey Kendrick (2-for-3, RBI) scored three runs for host Illinois Lutheran (13-1, 5-1) in the five-inning River Valley game.

Softball

Lincoln-Way East 12, Stagg 2: Blake Ruiz belted a three-run homer and Nicole O’Donnell (3-for-3, 2 runs) added a two-run shot to power host Lincoln-Way East (9-5, 1-3) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Sarah Esposito tossed a four-hitter and struck out seven for the Griffins in the six-inning tilt. Kyla Frain slugged a solo homer for Stagg (2-8, 1-3).

Providence 4, Marian Catholic 3: Morgan Greenwood clubbed a two-run homer to highlight a three-run sixth inning for host Providence (7-5, 2-2). Kendal Judge gave up five hits and struck out seven for the Celtics in the East Suburban Catholic. Alexis Wallace hit a two-run double for Marian Catholic (6-5, 2-2).

Marist 20, Joliet Catholic 4: Alexis Rogers (2-for-3, 3 runs, 5 RBI) blasted a three-run homer to spark host Marist (12-3-1, 4-0) in the five-inning game. Brooke Wyderski, Madison Naujokas and Zariya Gonzalez added two-run shots for the RedHawks, who pounded out 18 hits. Meghan Harrison had two RBI for Joliet Catholic (6-8, 1-5) and Brenna Garland added a solo homer.

Tinley Park 11, Shepard 1: Lauren Buckwalter (2-for-3, run) had three RBI to lift host Tinley Park (9-3, 7-1) in the South Suburban crossover. Alex Laphen (3-for-3) and Sam Alberto (2-for-3, run) added two RBI apiece for the Titans in support of Annalisse Scott, who spun a two-hitter and fanned eight.

Chicago Christian 13, Timothy Christian 3: Sam Kubik (3-for-4, 3 runs) drilled a three-run homer for host Chicago Christian (5-6). Kaycee Pittman (2-for-3) tacked on four runs and two RBI for the Knights in the five-inning contest.

T.F. South 8, Homewood-Flossmoor 5: Sydney Harrison went 3-for-3 with two homers and five RBI to guide visiting T.F. South (11-3).

Oak Forest 7, Illiana Christian 5: Taylor Sterkowitz (2-for-4, 2 runs) homered and drove in two runs to pace visiting Oak Forest (12-4). Anne Zubek added two doubles and two RBI for the Bengals. Brooke VanderAa launched a three-run homer for Illiana Christian (6-9).

Richards 11, Reavis 3: Sara Tobin was 5-for-6 with two runs for visiting Richards (10-4, 9-2) in the South Suburban Red. Sara Kiziak (7-3) fired a three-hitter and fanned eight as Julie Folliard garnered her 600th victory as Bulldogs coach.

Beecher 9, Gardner-South Wilmington 0: Sarah Crews had two homers and four RBI for host Beecher (16-4) in the River Valley.

Plainfield Central 8, Sandburg 7: Briana Soltis and Sarah Herold smashed solo homers for Sandburg (9-8) in Orland Park.

Tri-Point 12, Illinois Lutheran 5: Kayla Adams posted a run and an RBI for host Illinois Lutheran (3-8, 0-6) in the River Valley.

Queen of Peace 8, Argo 6: Jasmine Escobedo’s three-run homer led host Queen of Peace (3-9). Bianca Garrette went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI for Argo.

Oak Lawn 13, Hillcrest 2: Morgan Josza had two RBI to lead visiting Oak Lawn (6-8) in the South Suburban crossover.

Girls Soccer

Eisenhower 3, Bremen 2: Yesenia Perez scored twice and Julia Schultz once for host Eisenhower (6-5, 4-3) in the South Suburban crossover.

Reavis 4, Richards 0: Edith Benitez, Ewelina Kmin, Celeste Lara and Stephanie Solis had goals for host Reavis (8-6, 5-2) in the South Suburban Red.

Sandburg 2, Homewood-Flossmoor 0: Goals by Emily Osoba and Sam Messina guided host Sandburg (6-2-1, 3-0) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Boys Volleyball

Lincoln-Way North 25-25, Joliet West 20-20: JT Limon and Brad McFarland had eight kills each for host Lincoln-Way North (16-1, 3-0) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover.

Lincoln-Way Central 25-25, Homewood-Flossmoor 4-10: Kyle Nielsen and Adam Sargis registered eight and five kills, respectively, for host Lincoln-Way Central (13-4, 2-1) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover.

Lincoln-Way East 25-26, Bolingbrook 12-24: Eric Hess (6 assists) and Nick Lilley (5 kills) were among the standouts for host Lincoln-Way East (20-1, 3-0) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover.

Boys Tennis

Shepard 4, Riverside-Brookfield 2: Brian Spoon and Kyle McNamara prevailed at No. 1 doubles for host Shepard.

Andrew 4, Illiana Christian 1: Nick Karczynski was a winner at No. 1 singles for host Andrew (5-2).

Boys Water Polo

Stagg 11, Lincoln-Way Central 8: Zack Amendola scored six goals and Lane Holin made 13 saves for visiting Stagg in the SouthWest Suburban crossover. Kyle Forsythe totaled three goals and four steals for Lincoln-Way Central.

Homewood-Flossmoor 21, Lincoln-Way West 10: Broc Thompson netted five goals and Haden Santefort scored four to spark visiting Homewood-Flossmoor in the SouthWest Suburban crossover. Jake Carlson put in five goals for Lincoln-Way West.

Girls Water Polo

Lincoln-Way East 7, Andrew 6: Aimee Schaaf and Haley McCabe provided hat tricks to elevate host Lincoln-Way East in the SouthWest Suburban crossover. Alison Sifuentes and Genny McCarthy scored twice for Andrew.

Lincoln-Way Central 13, Stagg 1: Kristi Howe chalked up three goals and Sabrina Miglorini stopped nine shots to show the way for visiting Lincoln-Way Central in the SouthWest Suburban crossover.

Lincoln-Way West 6, Homewood-Flossmoor 3: Sarah Suppes and Shannon Soukup each scored twice for visiting Lincoln-Way West in the SouthWest Suburban crossover.

Girls Track & Field

T.F. South Invitational: Tineja Foy won the 100-meter hurdles (15.6 seconds) and 300 hurdles (52.79) in helping Crete-Monee (141 points) secure first place in the nine-team meet. Illiana Christian (90.5) was second, followed by Lincoln-Way West, T.F. South (79 each) and Bremen (52). Simone Fears added victories in the 100-meter dash (12.91) and 200 dash (26.41) for the Warriors. Lincoln-Way West’s Deven Bax posted the top time in the 400 (1 minute, 2.23 seconds) and Natalie Waters won the mile (5:45.03). Celestine Keys, of T.F. South, led all competitors in the shot put (35 feet, 6¾ inches), while teammate Kiersten Parks won the high jump (4-10). Bremen posted the fastest time in the 800 relay (1:51.3).

Marian Catholic triangular: Aliana McCarthy won the 100 high hurdles (16:30) as Marist (53) topped Providence (50) and Marian Catholic (41) in the East Suburban Catholic Conference. Marian Catholic’s Taylor Walker prevailed in the 300 low hurdles (51.13) and Providence’s Clare O’Donnell set the pace in the 800 (2:32.58).

College Baseball

South Suburban 8, Morton 6: Host South Suburban (23-14) overcame a 6-0 deficit to give coach Steve Ruzich his 1,000th career victory at the school. Cody Moskovski tied the game with a three-run double in the eighth inning before scoring the eventual winning run on an error.

Olivet Nazarene 4-5, St. Xavier 3-4: Bryan Polak and Ryan Pellack knocked in runs for visiting St. Xavier (17-25, 12-10) in Game 1 of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader. Alec Barnhart added two runs for the Cougars. Brad Myjak went 2-for-3 with an RBI for St. Xavier in the nightcap.

Wisconsin-Parkside 11-3, Lewis 3-2: Kyle Kapka hit a solo homer in the opener and Ben Albano added a two-run shot in Game 2 to pace visiting Lewis (20-21, 12-15) in the Great Lakes Valley.

Trinity Christian 8-8, Cardinal Stritch 2-2: Danny Britt slammed a three-run homer in Game 1 and a two-run blast in the finale to power host Trinity Christian (21-17, 13-9) in the CCAC.

Women’s Softball

Calumet 8-5, Trinity Christian 5-8: Jayme Love and Bailan Reynolds had two RBI apiece to help visiting Trinity Christian (20-20, 10-8) gain a split in the CCAC doubleheader. Reynolds contributed a two-run double in the first game for the Trolls and Natalie Cannizzo added a two-run single.
