Change is coming to the Marist softball team.
The school announced Monday that assistant Colleen Biebel, a 2007 Marist grad, will take over as head coach next spring.
She replaces Denise Bromberek who is stepping down after 12 seasons and moving to St. George, Utah, with her husband, Nick, and their two small children.
Biebel was a standout pitcher under Bromberek from 2004-07, twice winning Player of the Year honors in the East Suburban Catholic Conference.
Biebel later attended Western Illinois, where she played center field, earning Summit League All-Conference and All-Academic accolades. She graduated magna cum laude in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in education.
The following year, Biebel joined Bromberek’s staff as the RedHawks won the Class 4A championship.
“Colleen will be a perfect fit for the expectations of Marist athletics,” Bromberek said. “Her energy and her positive attitude with allow for future success.”
