Illiana Christian 5, Ridgewood 1: Joey Skrbina’s three-run triple highlighted a five-run first inning for host Illiana Christian (9-12, 8-3). Caleb Jonkman tossed a four-hitter and struck out six for the Vikings in the Metro Suburban.

Marist 3, Nazareth 2: Ryan Kairis (3-for-4) stroked a pair of RBI singles — including the game-winner in the top of the seventh — to boost Marist (13-10, 6-3) in the East Suburban Catholic. Matt McKenzie gave up one earned run on five hits in pitching a complete game for the RedHawks.

Stagg 8, Hinsdale South 3: Colangelo Martinez (3-for-3) contributed two runs and two RBI for host Stagg (10-14). Drew Bolero (2-for-3) and Brett Stratinsky added two runs each for the Chargers. C.J. Casey (3 earned runs) fanned five through six innings for the winners.

Providence 5, Brother Rice 1: Dylan Rosa (earned run) pitched six innings of one-hit ball and also contributed two RBI for visiting Providence (16-10, 7-5). Jackson Stulas added two runs for the Celtics. Ryan Kutt had an RBI groundout for Brother Rice (20-7, 9-3).

De La Salle 8, St. Joseph 0: Ivan Guzman (6 strikeouts) hurled a complete game and Glenn Kubek (2-for-4) knocked in three runs to vault host De La Salle (16-7, 11-5) in the Catholic League White.

Evergreen Park 5, Manteno 2: Mark Martin (2-for-3) scored three times and Sean Miller (2-for-3, double) added two RBI for host Evergreen Park (14-8). KeyShawn Carpenter (2-for-2) tacked on an RBI double and two runs for the Mustangs.

Bolingbrook 4, T.F. South 3: Brian Seymour and Louis Reynolds recorded RBI for visiting T.F. South (15-8). Steve Stubitch doubled and scored for the Rebels.

Bremen 5, Reavis 3: Tyler Banovich (3-for-4, 2 runs) hit a go-ahead two-run double in the top of the eighth for Bremen (16-10, 7-5) in the South Suburban Red. Sean Grant gave up two earned runs in 7 1/3 innings in garnering the win. Jose Romero contributed one run and one RBI for Reavis (8-14, 5-7).

Oak Forest 6, Sandburg 5: Kevin Johnson singled home Drew Dominik in the eighth inning to elevate host Oak Forest (17-7). Dan Hlad tacked on two RBI for the Bengals. Jimmy Christian (4-3) earned the victory after pitching three scoreless innings in relief. Jim Landgraf (2-for-4) walloped a three-run double for Sandburg (17-5).

Mount Carmel 5, Loyola 3: Ako Thomas smacked a tiebreaking triple in the top of the sixth and later scored on an error to pace Mount Carmel (19-4, 10-2) in the Catholic League Blue. Josh Stowers also posted an RBI for the Caravan.

Morgan Park 12, Brooks 3: Darius Hill (2-for-3) recorded two runs and two RBI to set the tone for host Morgan Park (14-4-1, 8-1-1) in the Jackie Robinson South.

Ag. Science 8, Little Village 4: Mike Cassidy’s two-run homer aided visiting Ag. Science (21-4, 12-2) in the Public League Sammie Sosa.

T.F. North 5, Gary West Side 2: Mike Szablewski and Zach Turner each contributed a double and an RBI to power host T.F. North (8-17). Miseal Morales struck out nine in pitching a complete game for the Meteors.

Illinois Lutheran 7, Gardner-South Wilmington 0: Sam Geraci (9 strikeouts) allowed one hit in six innings and also went 2-for-2 with an RBI and four runs for host Illinois Lutheran (20-1, 8-1). Evan Falk and Grant Farmer added two-run singles for the Chargers in the River Valley.

Softball

Marian Catholic 7, Joliet Catholic 0: Allison Spence (2-for-3, 2 runs, 3 RBI) clubbed a pair of homers to power visiting Marian Catholic (13-8, 9-3). Susie Baranski (2-for-2, 3 runs) added a homer and three RBI for the Spartans in the East Suburban Catholic. Haley Earl allowed two hits and fanned six in going the route for the winners. Kayla Bennett had both hits for Joliet Catholic (8-14, 2-8).

Andrew 6, Shepard 2: Kayla Noel (2-for-3) ripped a pair of RBI singles and Gianni Iannantone (2-for-3) added a two-run single to guide host Andrew (18-6). Thunderbolts pitcher Maddie Sherwood (4-1) surrendered two unearned runs on four hits over six innings.

Providence 9, Bishop McNamara 5: Courtney Pych (5-for-5, run) and Jessica Cothern (2-for-5) each put up two RBI to spark visiting Providence (13-8, 7-5) in the East Suburban Catholic.

Gardner-South Wilmington 20, Illinois Lutheran 1: Samantha Sievert scored on an error for host Illinois Lutheran (5-11, 1-9) in the five-inning River Valley game.

Oak Forest 13, Evergreen Park 3: Corrina Boersma (2-for-3) totaled three RBI to steer host Oak Forest (17-5, 10-1) in the five-inning contest. Taylor Ahlgrim (2-for-4) and Shannon Coyle (2-for-4) each added two runs and two RBI for the Bengals in the South Suburban crossover.

Mount Assisi 9, Oak Lawn 0: Terri Dearth (5 strikeouts) pitched five innings of two-hit ball and also went 3-for-3 with a solo homer and two RBI for host Mount Assisi (7-12). Sabrina Miller (3-for-4, 3 runs) led the Eagles with two homers and five RBI. Oak Lawn fell to 12-11.

Beecher 9, Sandburg 8: Sarah Crews pitched a complete game and also went 4-for-4 with four RBI to steer host Beecher (24-6). Sandburg is 14-10.

Glenbard South 9, Lemont 7: Maddy Vermejan doubled and drove in three runs for visiting Lemont (15-7).

Illiana Christian 12, Ridgewood 9: Kat Witting (2-for-3, 3 runs) contributed a double, home run and four RBI to ignite visiting Illiana Christian (14-11, 8-1) in the Metro Suburban.

Girls Soccer

Carmel 4, Providence 2: Kyleigh Maday and Alyssa Dorning netted goals for visiting Providence (10-9-2, 3-5) in the East Suburban Catholic.

Bloom 9, Thornwood co-op 0: Erika Garcia totaled three goals and an assist to power visiting Bloom (11-1). Jazmin Aldape and Jasmin Villanueva both chipped in two goals and two assists for the Blazing Trojans.

Marist 1, Nazareth 0: Mary Brennan scored off an assist from Lorna McCall to pace host Marist (8-6-4,4-3-1) in the East Suburban Catholic.

Boys Volleyball

Lockport 25-25, Bolingbrook 23-23: Matt Sadler provided eight kills to direct visiting Lockport (15-11, 2-5). Vince Smtihwick added six solo blocks and five kills for the Porters in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Lincoln-Way West 25-25, Andrew 13-15: Michael Wexter’s 24 assists and six kills were instrumental for host Lincoln-Way West (21-3, 6-1). Jon Adlington chipped in nine kills for the Warriors in the SouthWest Suburban Red. Sean Yerkes dished out eight assists for Andrew (13-11, 5-2) and Sanil Thomas had five kills.

Brother Rice 25-25, Oak Park-River Forest 8-16: Matt Gagner had seven kills and Dan Hayes had 12 assists to vault host Brother Rice (23-2).

Lincoln-Way East 25-25, Stagg 14-16: Austin Royer finished with 21 assists and Aaron Redweik put down eight kills to carry host Lincoln-Way East (30-1, 7-0) in the SouthWest Suburban Red.

Boys Tennis

Shepard 3, Richards 2: Brian Spoon and Kyle McNamara won at No. 1 doubles for host Shepard in the South Suburban Red.

Oak Forest 5, Tinley Park 0: Wyatt Kurtz posted a victory at No. 1 singles to spark visiting Oak Forest (14-2, 3-0) in the South Suburban Blue. Rami Al-Ioussi and Ed Young added a win at No. 1 doubles for the Bengals.

Lincoln-Way East triangular: Rohan Piska won twice at No. 1 singles in guiding Lincoln-Way East (21-2) past Ottawa 5-0 and Fenwick 4-1.

Boys Water Polo

Stagg 7, Lockport 3: Peter Krivanec netted a hat trick and Lane Holin made 18 saves to lift host Stagg in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Lincoln-Way Central 14, Bradley 8: Kyle Forsythe’s six goals propelled host Lincoln-Way Central in the SouthWest Suburban Red.

Andrew 19, Lincoln-Way West 10: Eric Tamulonis had six goals to lead visiting Andrew in the SouthWest Suburban Red.

Sandburg 14, Homewood-Flossmoor 11: Zach Roper had seven goals to show the way for host Sandburg in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Haden Santefort’s four goals led for Homewood-Flossmoor.

Girls Water Polo

Andrew 11, Lincoln-Way West 4: Megan Hofer had a match-high seven goals for host Andrew in the SouthWest Suburban Red.

Sandburg 10, Homewood-Flossmoor 4: Sarah Dolitsky tossed in five goals to set the pace for visiting Sandburg in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Girls Lacrosse

Glenbrook North 10, Marian Catholic 7: Celeste Friel’s four goal led visiting Marian Catholic (10-6).

Boys Gymnastics

Wheaton Warrenville South Sectional: Lincoln-Way co-op teammates Kaleb Hong (8.6500) and Tyler Greenberg (8.2500) qualified for the state meet after finishing third and fifth, respectively, on the still rings. Omar Ashour, of Andrew co-op, also advanced to the state level by virtue of his fifth-place effort on the vault (8.9000). Wheaton Warrenville South (9.5500) won the crown over runner-up Naperville Central (141.8000). Lincoln-Way co-op (132.7500) was fourth in the eight-team meet.

Men’s Golf

NCAA Division II Midwest Regional: Lewis (921) finished 14th in the 20-team field at Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, Mo. Robert Dofflemyer III shot a 79 to close the three-day tournament with a team-best 226 for the Flyers. Jeremy Fraser (233) and Anthony Lodovico (234) also starred for Lewis. Malone (886) captured the team title.

Women’s Softball

NCCAA North Central Regional

Trinity Christian 2-9, Bethel (Ind.) 0-3: Tori Grzincic and April Lynn posted RBI singles for visiting Trinity Christian (26-25) in Game 1 of the best-of-3 series. Brianna Brugioni pitched a complete game for the Trolls in the nightcap and also knocked in two runs. Trinity Christian plays next in the NCCAA National Championships on May 15-17 in Botetourt County, Virginia.
