Baseball

Marist 3, St. Viator 1: Pat Meehan allowed three hits in tossing a complete game for host Marist (14-10, 7-3) in the East Suburban Catholic. Eric Hansen (2-for-2), John Carmody and Tom Finwall scored runs for the RedHawks.

Stagg 7, Bolingbrook 3: Brett Stratinsky (3-for-3, 2 runs) launched a two-run homer and Drew Bolero had a two-run double to power host Stagg (11-14, 5-4) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Nick Gerzon gave up two earned runs on six hits in going the route for the Chargers.

Oak Forest 4, Eisenhower 1: Kevin Johnson (2-for-4) scored two runs and Matt Zubek (7 strikeouts) pitched a complete game for host Oak Forest (18-7, 10-3) in the South Suburban crossover. Gabriel Onate homered for Eisenhower.

Lemont 7, Richards 5: Jake Terrazas (2-for-2, 3 RBI) ripped a two-run single and Nick Wisz (2-for-4) hit a two-run homer to propel host Lemont (22-1, 13-0) in the South Suburban crossover. Shawn Chiaramonte had a two-run double for Richards (19-5, 13-2).

Peotone 10, Beecher 7: Chase Wyatt (2-for-4, 2 runs) homered and finished with two RBI for host Beecher (15-10). Cameron Morgan (2-for-3) chipped in two runs and an RBI for the Bobcats.

Homewood-Flossmoor 12, Joliet West 6: Jesse Forestell and Derrion Thomas each went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI for visiting Homewood-Flossmoor (15-5, 5-4) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Mount Carmel 16, Washington 6: Malik Carpenter (2-for-4) walloped a two-run double and totaled four RBI to key host Mount Carmel (20-4) in the five-inning game. Jeremy Houston (2-for-3) tacked on two runs and two RBI for the Caravan.

Thornton 4, Thornridge 3: Fred Johnson’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh made the difference for Thornton (2-15, 1-6) in the SouthWest Suburban Red.

Rich South 11, Bloom 8: Elijah Garrett had a two-run single and three RBI to lead visiting Rich South (5-11, 3-7). Micaiah Arriaga had two runs and two RBI for the Stars in the Southland. Ryan Smith (2-for-4, 2 runs) and Cesar Medrano (2-for-3) posted two RBI each for Bloom (9-10, 7-2).

Lincoln-Way Central 13, Thornwood 3: Kevin Mampe and Cam Post hit two-run homers for host Lincoln-Way Central (17-8, 8-1) in the SouthWest Suburban Red. Tony Kestel and Pat Michalak added two runs each for the Knights in the five-inning contest.

Argo 8, T.F. North 4: Cosmo Halwix (2-for-5) had five RBI and Dustin Krob (4-for-5) stole five bases to carry visiting Argo (6-13, 4-10) in the eight-inning South Suburban crossover.

Tinley Park 8, Reavis 7: Zach Moravec’s leadoff homer in the bottom of the 12th lifted Tinley Park (8-12, 3-10) in the South Suburban crossover. Jordan Rhodes hit a two-run homer for Reavis (8-15, 5-8) and Matt Barajas (5-for-6) posted two runs and an RBI.

St. Laurence 13, Andrean 10: Frank Greco (3-for-3, 3 runs, 6 RBI) and Sean Burnette hitgrand slams to power host St. Laurence (23-3).

Shepard 6, T.F. South 5: Brett Smith (2-for-3) had two RBI and Bob Peterka hit a two-run double to guide visiting Shepard (9-12, 7-7) in the South Suburban crossover.

Bradley 1, Andrew 0: Ramon Gonzales (6 strikeouts) pitched six innings of one-run, five-hit ball for visiting Andrew (8-14, 3-6) in the SouthWest Suburban Red.

Bremen 4, Oak Lawn 2: Mike Fuentes (4-1) surrendered two earned runs over 61/3 innings and Nick Strache (2-for-3) scored twice for visiting Bremen (17-10, 8-5) in the South Suburban crossover. Ryne Melnik went 3-for-3 with a run for Oak Lawn (8-18, 7-7).

Illiana Christian 10, Ridgewood 8: Jack Hillegonds slammed a two-run homer and totaled three RBI to lead visiting Illiana Christian (10-12, 9-8) in the Metro Suburban. Kyle Van Kalker (3-for-3, 2 runs) also posted three RBI for the Vikings.

Rich Central 3-13, Crete-Monee 2-15: Michael Hoover Jr.’s sacrifice fly scored Cedric Garrett in the bottom of the ninth to lift Rich Central (10-5, 5-3) in the opener, which was the completion of a suspended game from Tuesday. Brandon Hannigan (2-for-4, 3 runs) hit a three-run homer in the seventh to give host Crete-Monee (12-10, 8-2) the nightcap.

Softball

Lockport 17, Joliet Central 2: Sarah DeMasi (3-for-3) hit a three-run homer and a two-run single to vault host Lockport (19-5-1, 7-2) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Gabby Voulgaris added a two-run blast for the Porters in the five-inning game.

Lincoln-Way East 6, Homewood-Flossmoor 0: Nikole Van Gennep tossed a one-hitter and fanned 13 for visiting Lincoln-Way East (16-6, 4-4) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Blake Ruiz led the offense with a two-run homer.

Joliet West 14, Stagg 0: Meaghan Hynes’ double was one of four hits for visiting Stagg (2-13, 1-8) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Shepard 7, Argo 2: Kaitlyn Blanton ripped a two-run triple to aid host Shepard (15-5, 9-5) in the South Suburban Red. Breanna Graffeo (2-for-4) tacked on two runs and two RBI for the Astros. Melissa Kelly struck out eight in pitching a complete game for the winners.

Lincoln-Way West 11, Thornwood 0: Jess Schram knocked in four runs for visiting Lincoln-Way West (23-1, 9-0) in the five-inning contest. Amanda Ruskowsky struck out 12 in going the route for the Warriors in the SouthWest Suburban Red.

Waubonsie Valley 6, Providence 2: Sarah Brightmore and Sarah Deppert posted RBI for host Providence (13-9).

T.F. South 10, Hillcrest 0: Devin Pieper (8-5) struck out 13 in pitching a perfect game for host T.F. South (15-5, 8-4) in the six-inning South Suburban Blue contest.

Illiana Christian 9, Elmwood Park 5: Andi DiNuzzo (2-for-2, 2 runs) homered and drove in two runs for host Illiana Christian (15-11, 9-1) in the Metro Suburban. Ashley Wiltjer (3-for-4) also had two RBI for the Vikings.

Richards 11, Eisenhower 1: Emily Wetzel and Andrea Stengle hit home runs to ignite host Richards (15-5, 13-2) in the five-inning South Suburban Red game.

Evergreen Park 5, Oak Lawn 2: Jenna Haase (3-for-4) recorded two doubles and three RBI to direct host Evergreen Park (15-11, 8-8) in the South Suburban Red.

Illinois Lutheran 20, East Chicago Central 3: Karoline Keuther (2-for-4) contributed two runs and four RBI for visiting Illinois Lutheran (6-11). Kassie Kernagis had three runs and three RBI for the Chargers in the five-inning contest.

Lincoln-Way North 20, Thornridge 0: Anna Wheatley (10 strikeouts) pitched a no-hitter and also went 3-for-3 with two RBI for visiting Lincoln-Way North (13-6, 7-2) in the SouthWest Suburban Red. Sam Pietruszynski (4-for-4) added four runs and three RBI for the Phoenix in the five-inning game.

Lisle 9, Mount Assisi 7: Amber Anderson, Dana Bunting and Terri Dearth hit home runs for visiting Mount Assisi (7-13).

Girls Soccer

Crete-Monee 9, Rich East 1: Adriana Vera scored four goals for host Crete-Monee (8-7, 6-1) in the Southland.

Lincoln-Way North 3, Bradley 0: Rachel Pappas netted a hat trick and Brittany Dombkowski recorded the shutout to pace host Lincoln-Way North (14-3-1, 5-0) in the SouthWest Suburban Red.

Bloom 5 Rich South 0: Andi Hernandez had two goals and two assists for host Bloom (12-1, 8-0) in Southland play.

Oak Forest 6, T.F. United 0: Alyssa Gilman (3 goals) and Jenna Brown (2 assists) led host Oak Forest (9-12, 6-6) in the South Suburban Blue.

Lincoln-Way West 1, Lincoln-Way East 0: Emily Wyskiel scored off an assist from Meaghann Lange to boost visiting Lincoln-Way West (14-4-1, 3-3) in the SouthWest Suburban Red.

Lincoln-Way Central 2, Andrew 1: Goals by Paige Proctor and Brooke Bingham put visiting Lincoln-Way Central (10-7-3, 4-1) over the top in the SouthWest Suburban Red.

Boys Volleyball

Brother Rice 25-25, Providence 22-22: Dave Kelly’s eight kills led visiting Brother Rice (24-2, 8-0) in the Catholic League Blue. Matt Gagner (5 kills) and Joe Okelman (5 digs) also starred for the Crusaders.

Eisenhower 25-25, Argo 19-21: Vinny Curta had 12 kills for visiting Eisenhower (17-8, 4-1) in the South Suburban Red.

Carmel 25-23-25, Marian Catholic 18-25-19: Zak Piekarski dished out 21 assists and Temi Onayemi posted 10 kills to pace host Marian Catholic (6-16, 0-5) in the East Suburban Catholic.

Joliet Catholic 25-19-25, St. Viator 16-25-16: Aaron Goeken’s 32 assists and Blake Reardon’s 12 kills led for host Joliet Catholic (19-10, 5-2) in the East Suburban Catholic.

Reavis 25-25, Shepard 19-17: Matt Sammon had 23 assists and Dave Kasprzak chipped in eight kills to lead host Reavis (11-11, 3-1) in the South Suburban Red.

Badminton

Andrew Sectional: Beth Przekwas, of Andrew, defeated Lincoln-Way West’s Cassie Ruettiger 21-15, 21-12 in the singles championship. The two schools also contested for the doubles crown, with similar results, as Nicole Bernardi and Nina Vinotai garnered a 21-16, 21-19 decision over Beth Heise and Hannah Sigrist. Those two results were influential in Andrew (15.5) edging Lincoln-Way West (14) for the team championship. Stephanie McDonald, of Lincoln-Way West, was third in singles, while Andrew teammates Amanda Bednarczyk and Emily Konchan won the third-place match in doubles. Joliet West (7.5), Joliet Central (3), Lincoln-Way North (2.5) and T.F. North (0.5) rounded out the field.

Hinsdale South Sectional: Reavis’ Rocheni Calalang and Elizabeth Doory qualified for the state meet after beating Metea Valley’s Emily Dixon and Alyssa Funk 21-5, 21-13. As a team, the Rams totaled 6.5 points in finishing fourth behind Hinsdale South (16), Naperville Central (10.5) and Metea Valley (7.5).

Lockport Sectional: Lockport (15.5) produced the top two finishers in doubles en route to securing the crown. Araceli Lozano and Marisol Onate did the honors for the Porters, besting Jen Inczauskiks and Lauren Hueckstaedt 21-16, 21-17. Jessica Miller added a runner-up finish in singles for the Porters, who topped Bradley (9), Oswego East (6.5), Plainfield South (6), Plainfield North (4) and Shepard (1.5).

Naperville North Sectional: Oak Lawn’s Nayfah Thnaibat fell to Downers Grove North’s Kiley Pooler 21-17, 17-21, 22-20 in the thrid-place match. The Spartans (6.5) finished fourth in the meet won by Downers Grove North (13.5).

T.F. South Sectional: Jessica Gomez won the crown at No. 1 singles as T.F. South (18) garnered the team title. Cassie Breschock and Jenna Pasko were victorious at No. 1 doubles in helping the Rebels complete the sweep. Homewood-Flossmoor’s Katie Sinwelski finished third in singles, while Stagg teammates Agnieszka Szudy and Julia Hernandez took third in doubles. Homewood-Flossmoor (9.5) was second in the team standings, followed by Stagg (7.5), Oak Forest (5) and Plainfield East (1).

Boys Tennis

Lincoln-Way East 6, Sandburg 1: Tom Emola and Jarek Jozwik prevailed at No. 1 doubles for visiting Lincoln-Way East (22-2, 8-0) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover. Sandburg’s Jonluke Passett won at No. 1 singles.

Lockport 5, Andrew 2: Nolan Witkowski and Jake Polke (No. 1 doubles) were among the winners for host Lockport in the SouthWest Suburban crossover. Andrew’s Austin Wabi took the match at No. 2 singles.

Lemont 5, Tinley Park 0: Faraz Longi prevailed at No. 1 singles and Juan Diaz-Sanin and Ace Matthews added a victory at No. 2 doubles for host Lemont (10-4, 3-1) in the South Suburban Blue.

Girls Water Polo

Lincoln-Way Central 18, Bradley 5: Kristi Howe finished with five goals and six steals for visiting Lincoln-Way Central. Sabrina Miglorini made 15 saves for the Knights in the SouthWest Suburban Red.

Girls Track & Field

South Suburban Blue Meet: Vika Marmaite won the long jump (17 feet, 1 inch) and triple jump (39-6) as Lemont (148) captured the team championship ahead of runner-up Hillcrest (116) and third-place occupant T.F. North (102). Jorie Dybcio added victories in the 800-meter run (2 minutes, 27 seconds) and mile run (5:37.85) for the Indians. Hillcrest received wins from Desiree Wilson in the 100 dash (12.71 seconds) and Breana Williams in the discus (100-2). T.F. North’s Charlene Horton paced all competitors with three victories - in the 100-meter hurdles (16.68), 300 low hurdles (51.0) and 200 dash (26.06). Fourth-place Bremen (83) posted the top times in the 400 relay (50.24) and 800 relay (1:47.49). T.F. South (55), Oak Forest (36) and Tinley Park (18) rounded out the field.

South Suburban Red Meet: Alondra Delfin posted victories in the mile run (5:50.99) and 2-mile run (13:07.42) in guiding Shepard (176) to first place. The Astros also prevailed in the 400 relay (49.70), 800 relay (1:45.41) and 2-mile relay (10:21.90). Dajha White won the 400 (1:01.61) for runner-up Eisenhower (107). Reavis’ Paulina Gal paced all individuals with wins in the 800 (2:36.09), discus (129-5) and shot put (40-9) as the Rams (93) took third. Richards’ Kayla Jimmar crossed the finish line first in the 100 hurdles (15.11) and 200 (25.92). Evergreen Park (54) was fourth, followed by Richards (40) and Oak Lawn (37).

SouthWest Suburban Red Meet: Janaia Carter posted victories in the 100 hurdles (15.06), 300 hurdles (45.50) and triple jump (37-9 1/2) in guiding Thornwood (161.5) to the crown. Thornton (119) was second, with the next four spots held by Lincoln-Way Central (81), Bradley (56.5) and Lincoln-Way West (46.5). Thornton won the 400 relay (49.21), 800 relay (1:46.10) and also produced the winner of the 100 in Larice McNeal (12.57). Lincoln-Way Central’s Liz Venezio was tops in the 800 (2:27.70) and teammate Mallory Johnson took first in the 2-mile run (12:11.40). Other winners included Lincoln-Way West’s Natalie Krol in the mile run (5:21.90) and Lincoln-Way North’s Brandy Huppert in the pole vault (8-6). The final three places in the team standings were held by Lincoln-Way North (40), Thornridge (38) and Andrew (16).

College Baseball

Great Lakes Valley Tournament

Truman State 9, Lewis 7: Ben Albano (3-for-4) posted two runs and an RBI as Lewis (26-25) was eliminated in the 10-inning game. Mike Barajas added a pair of RBI for the Flyers in their season finale.

Indianapolis 3, Lewis 2: Alex Slaby went 4-for-4 with a run to aid Lewis in its first game of the day in Evansville. Eann Cox allowed two earned runs and struck out seven in pitching a complete game for the Flyers.

NJCAA Region IV Tournament

South Suburban 15, Olive-Harvey 2: Home runs by Steve Letz (2-for-4, 3 RBI), Cody Moskovski and Jordan Davis powered South Suburban (33-18) in the opening round at Kishawaukee. Stefano Belmonte (4-for-4) and Dom Albanese (3-for-3, 3 runs) each had on three RBI for the Bulldogs in the five-inning tilt.

Men’s Track & Field

North Central Invitational: Lewis’ Adam Barr won the hammer throw (180-4).
