Boys Volleyball: Three things learned

1. The Krasich twins are splitting up. Danny and Eric Krasich have been stalwarts in Richards’ lineup the past few seasons. The brothers won’t be starting with each other for much longer. Danny, a setter, is set to play for Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. Eric, a libero, will suit up at Benedictine. “The character, the work ethic and the passion in those kids is unbeatable,” Richards coach Troy Grevengoed said. “They’re just awesome guys to be around.”

2. Joliet Catholic had Senior Night. Well, sort of. The Hilltoppers called it “Bobby Nunez Night” in honor of their lone upcoming graduate. Nunez, a two-year starter, helped Joliet Catholic to the top seed in the Joliet West Regional despite the youngest lineup in the field. It’s a tough regional. The Hilltoppers will face Minooka or Lockport in the semifinals, with that winner likely getting either Joliet West or Plainfield Central in the regional final.

3. Reavis is in a good spot. The Rams join Mount Carmel, St. Rita, St. Laurence and Argo as Southland schools in the 24-team Morton Sectional. Reavis earned the No. 3 seed and could nab the program’s first regional title since winning three straight from 2008 through ’10. Reavis’ opponents should prepare for a few extended rallies. The Rams — with David Kasprzak their lone club player — are winning games via scrappy play and hustle.
