Baseball

Marist 1, Marian Catholic 0: Grant Kenny’s single in the bottom of the seventh scored pinch-runner Tyler Haizel to lift Marist (17-13, 9-5) in the East Suburban Catholic. Matt McKenzie (4-1) allowed four hits and struck out five in pitching a complete game for the RedHawks. Chris Baker went 2-for-3 to lead Marian Catholic (15-16, 7-9).

Morris 5, Lincoln-Way West 1: Dan Brokop (2-for-3) contributed an RBI single for host Lincoln-Way West (26-5).

Illiana Christian 6, Fenton 0: Caleb Jonkman spun a five-hitter and fanned seven to steer visiting Illiana Christian (14-15, 13-4) in the Metro Suburban. Cody Koehler (2-for-3, 2 run) hit a two-run homer for the Vikings and Kyle Van Kalker (2-for-3) scored twice.

Oak Forest 4, Lemont 3: Jim Smyth walked with two outs in the bottom of the 10th and came in on Joe Muller’s double for Oak Forest (24-7, 15-3) in the South Suburban Blue. Brian Richard (double) and Joe Funkhouser (single) put up RBI for the Bengals in the seventh, forcing extra innings. Mike Papierski (2-for-4, RBI) contributed two runs for Lemont (27-3, 17-2), which also received an RBI double from Mike Wisz.

Neuqua Valley 5, Lockport 3: Lorenzo Blazekovich (2-for-4) scored twice for host Lockport (16-16). Ryan Dalton and Mike Formella knocked in runs for the Porters.

Rich Central 13, Kankakee 1: Quentin Jones went 2-for-3 with two RBI to boost visiting Rich Central (16-5, 11-3) in the Southland.

Shepard 9, Evergreen Park 1: Bob Peterka hit a three-run double and a two-run homer to carry host Shepard (12-16, 9-9) in the South Suburban Red. Brett Smith added a two-run single for the Astros in addition to pitching a complete game (3-hitter, 9 strikeouts). Sean Miller recorded an RBI single for Evergreen Park (19-10, 12-6).

Rich South 13, Rich East 3: Corbin Rice (3-for-3, 2 RBI) scored three runs and Micaiah Arriaga had a two-run double to direct host Rich South (6-14, 4-9) in the six-inning Southland tilt. Mario Jenkins surrendered three hits and struck out nine in going the distance for the Stars. Braden Davis and Luke Carter had RBI for Rich East.

Argo 8, Richards 5: Dustin Krob (1-for-3, 2 runs) hit a two-run homer for host Argo (7-17, 5-14) in the South Suburban Red. Charlie Zeschke (2-for-4, run) had three RBI to lead Richards (24-7, 16-3).

Hinsdale South 8, De La Salle 3: Joe Gazzi hit a solo homer for visiting De La Salle (20-10).

Bremen 5, Eisenhower 0: Tyler Banovich (5-hitter, 9 strikeouts) pitched a complete game and also went 2-for-4 with an RBI to ignite visiting Bremen (21-12, 12-6) in the South Suburban crossover.

Public League quarterfinal

Morgan Park 7, Lane Tech 4: Lavar Reed had an RBI triple and scored three times for Morgan Park (20-7).

Class 1A Grant Park Regional

Illinois Lutheran 4, Seton 0: Grant Farmer (2-for-3, run) had an RBI and also garnered the save to propel Illinois Lutheran (22-2) in the semifinal. Jared Buzan (6-1) lasted 61/3 innings for the Chargers, allowing one hits and striking out 12.

Class 2A Bishop McNamara Regional

Beecher 10, Momence 0: Cameron Morgan pitched a one-hitter and struck out five to help Beecher (18-10) advance to the championship. Tanner Saddler (2-for-3, 3 RBI) hit a two-run double for the Bobcats and Chase Wyatt (2-for-4) added a two-run single in the six-inning contest.

Softball

Marist 8, Marian Catholic 2: Zariya Gonzalez (8 strikeouts) threw a complete game and also had two RBI to vault host Marist (23-7-2, 12-4). Madison Naujokas (3-for-4, 2 runs) added a solo homer and two RBI for the RedHawks in the East Suburban Catholic. Allison Spence (3-for-4) had two RBI for Marian Catholic (13-15, 9-9) and Susie Baranski (3-for-3) scored twice.

Joliet Catholic 7, Bremen 0: Kayla Bennett hit a two-run double and Sara Chamberlin scored twice in guiding host Joliet Catholic (13-19). Alyssa Callans (5 innings) scattered five singles in combining with Alivia Phelps on the shutout. Erin Schaffrath, Emily Gerhardt and Alicia Kolacki had hits for Bremen (12-13).

Plainfield Central 3, Providence 2: Maeve Garvey homered and Kendal Judge had an RBI single to lead visiting Providence (18-13). Judge also gave up one earned run in going the distance for the Celtics. Plainfield Central (19-12) won the game on Sammie Sabor’s sacrifice fly in the seventh that brought in Sarah Grabowski.

Lincoln-Way West 5, Lincoln-Way East 3: Dani Morgan (2-for-4, 2 RBI) hit a game-tying double in the bottom of the sixth and scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch later in the frame to elevate Lincoln-Way West (29-1). Emily Ray and Jenna Czart each went 2-for-3 with two runs for the Warriors in the SouthWest Suburban crossover. Olivia Prieto, Nikole Van Gennep and Taylor Szostak had RBI for Lincoln-Way East (21-9).

Richards 16, Argo 0: Sarah Tobin (9 strikeouts) tossed a five-hitter and also hit a grand slam as visiting Richards (20-6, 17-2) completed a 12-0 slate in the South Suburban Red. Emily Wetzel chipped in a homer and three RBI for the Bulldogs in the five-inning game.

Mother McAuley 8, Morton 0: Emily Rux (2-for-3) and Morgan Fleming (1-for-3) each had two RBI for host Mother McAuley (20-4). Jessica Alberts was touched for two hits and struck out eight in hurling a complete game the Mighty Macs.

Class 1A Grant Park Regional

Grant Park 11, Illinois Lutheran 1: Kayla Adams went 2-for-2 with a run for Illinois Lutheran (8-13) in the five-inning semifinal.

Class 2 Beecher Regional

Wilmington 3, Illiana Christian 2: Kat Witting (1-for-3) had an RBI for Illiana Christian (16-14) in the eight-inning semifinal. Brooke VanderAa gave up two earned runs in going the distance for the Vikings.

Class 2A Chicago Christian Regional

Chicago Christian 10, Queen of Peace 0: Davina Gutierrez (12-15) fanned 10 in pitching a no-hitter for Chicago Christian (13-15). Kaycee Pittman (2-for-4, 2 runs) had a three-run triple and totaled four RBI for the Knights in the six-inning semifinal.

Girls Soccer

Class 3A Andrew Regional

Marist 1, Marian Catholic 0 (SO): Claire Walsh scored the winning goal for Marist (9-7-3) in the semifinal at Stagg. Marian Catholic closed 7-14-4.

Boys Volleyball

Oak Forest 25-25, Shepard 12-19: Brett Staehlin dished out 19 assists to pace host Oak Forest (24-10, 7-0) in the South Suburban match.

Lockport 25-25, Joliet West 16-22: Adam Krzos put down five kills to lead visiting Lockport (18-12, 5-6) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Lincoln-Way East 25-25, Lincoln-Way Central 16-18: Nate Van Dellen had six kills and five digs to lift host Lincoln-Way East (33-1, 10-0) in the SouthWest Suburban Red.
