FIRST TEAM

JESSICA COTHERN Providence, Soph., C

The general behind the plate, she also wreaked havoc from the batter’s box with a solid .488 average that included 12 doubles, five home runs, 22 runs and 29 RBI.

MORGHAN DIERINGER Lincoln-Way West, Sr., P

The Southland’s strikeout queen for the second straight season, she compiled 252 Ks (11.81 per-game average). Additional numbers included a 1.08 ERA and a 21-2 record. She’ll attend St. Francis.

MORGAN FLEMIN G Mother McAuley, Jr., INF

An offensive force in the heart of the Mighty Macs order, she batted .412, with four HR, 22 RBI and 25 runs. She had a .700 slugging percentage.

SARAH HER OLD Sandburg, Sr., P/OF

The sparkplug of the team, she pitched in most of the big games, recording 138 strikeouts in 109 innings. Also hit .390, with five HR and 30 runs. Will attend Denison.

RYLI E JAY Lemont, Jr., INF

Slick-fielding shortstop with a gun for an arm, Jay also was an offensive force with a .491 average that included 12 doubles, seven HR and 48 RBI.

KATI E KRZUS Sandburg, Jr., INF

Leading hitting on the Eagles, she locked up state semifinal win with a two-run HR, her seventh. Finished the season with eight doubles, three triples, 32 RBI and a .418 average.

TAYLO R JOHNSON Beecher, Fr., 1B

Exploded onto the high school softball scene with a quick and powerful bat. Hit .598 and posted a Southland-best 18 HR and 68 RBI.

BLAKE RUIZ Lincoln-Way East, Jr., C

Really caught fire in the playoffs and was huge in the supersectional win. She finished with a .366 average that included 12 doubles, 12 HR and 52 RBI.

BE THANY SALAZAR Evergreen Park, Soph., OF

An offensive machine for the Mustangs, she hit .664, with 22 doubles, nine triples, nine HR and 35 RBI. She also stole 12 bases.

ANNALISSE SCOTT

Tinley Park, Soph., P

She didn’t need a lot of offense with a pitching resume of 15-3, 142 strikeouts and 1.08 ERA, but provided a lot herself with a .523 average that included eight doubles and 22 RBI.

ALLISON SPENCE Marian Catholic, Jr., INF

Line drives with power resulted in big offensive numbers as she socked 16 doubles and nine HR, to go with 32 runs, 43 RBI and a .486 average.

TAYLOR STERKOWITZ Oak Forest, Soph. INF

Continues to grow as an elite power hitter. She hit 14 HR and knocked in 49 runs while scoring 39 en route to a robust .463 average.

JENNY VAN GEERTRY Lincoln-Way East, Jr., OF

Three-year varsity player was one of the Griffins’ most consistent hitters with runners on base, totaling 47 RBI. She slammed 10 doubles and six HR and finished with a .504 a verage.

EMILY WETZEL Richards, Jr., INF

The bomber out of the four-spot, she hit 11 HR (1.022 SP) during a season which she also had nine doubles, 29 RBI and a .483 av erage.

BROOKE WYDERSKI Marist, Sr., INF

Two-time SouthtownStar Player of the Year didn’t miss a beat in her senior season, hitting .492 with 13 HR and 50 RBI. She hit a two-out seventh-inning game-tying home run against Lyons in a regional title game. Will attend Loyola .
