Slammers blast Schaumburg 14-3

Recap: Joliet scored seven times in the second inning and finished with season-highs for runs and hits (17) in a victory over host Schaumburg on Friday night. Grant DeBruin doubled twice in the second and extended his hitting streak to 14 games. Blair Walters gave up three runs on six hits to earn the win. The Slammers also made several roster moves Friday: Marquis Riley was traded to Southern Illinois for pitchers Matt Crim and David Kubiak, pitcher Travis Reboulet was released and Jake Gronsky was signed (he had two hits and two RBI in his pro debut).

Slammers record: 19-29.
