Stagg 2, Minooka 0: Goals by Matt Angellotti and Jeremy Atkinson lifted host Stagg (2-0-1). Erick Estrada made four saves in garnering the shutout.
River Valley/Southland Challenge
Beecher 11, Rich South 0: Bailey Schultz had a hat trick to set the tone for Beecher (4-0). Jackson Strick tacked on two goals and an assist for the Bobcats at Illinois Lutheran.
Crete-Monee 3, Illinois Lutheran 1: Fernando Aguirre had one goal and one assist to spark visiting Crete-Monee (2-2). Victor Romo chipped in two assists for the Warriors. Justin Schmidtke had the goal for Illinois Lutheran (3-1).
War on 34 Tournament
Sycamore 6, Joliet Catholic 1: Ryan Lees scored on a penalty kick for Joliet Catholic (2-3) in the third-place match at Earlville.
North Shore Country Day 5, Joliet Catholic 2: Aron Goeken and Ben Gabor had goals for Joliet Catholic in the semifinal.
Windy City Ram Classic
Lincoln-Way North 2, Andrew 1 (SO): Lincoln-Way North (3-0) advanced to the semifinals after posting a 5-4 victory in the penalty-kick shootout. Ruben Sanchez scored in regulation for the Phoenix at Reavis.
Kennedy 2, Argo 1: Antonio Martinez scored for Argo (2-1) in the quarterfinal.
Marian Catholic 3, Providence 1: Goals by Cody Rodas, Alec Guarino and Tem Onayemi vaulted Marian Catholic (3-1).
Benet Invitational: Shae Milinowisch compiled 93 assists as Lemont (3-3) finished sixth out of eight teams. Olivia Whittingham added 40 kills for the Indians, who defeated Moline 20-25, 25-16, 25-20 before closing with a 25-15, 25-21, 25-23 loss to Waubonsie Valley in the Silver Bracket championship.
Bremen Invitational: Richards (3-2) lost to Ottawa 25-22, 27-25 in the championship of the eight-team tournament. Dana Wujcik (45 digs) and Kelly Lind (42) chalked up 22 kills apiece for the Bulldogs, who went 2-2 on the day. Katelyn Sullivan (80 assists) and Lexi Badon (63 digs) also contributed for Richards.
Chicago Christian Invitational: Sam Kubik set 15 assists and Leah Kamp drilled eight kills to spur Chicago Christian (5-1) over De La Salle 25-22, 25-21 in the title round. Anna Kamp tacked on seven kills for the Knights, who went 5-0 in the two-day event.
Metea Valley Invitational: Alex Lawton posted 17 kills over five matches and Annalise Robinson had 32 assists as Homewood-Flossmoor lost to Dakota 28-26, 25-22 in the consolation championship. Helena Villar (22 assists) and Mady Hallahan (14 kills) also contributed for the Vikings, who defeated Joliet Central 27-25, 25-13 after going winless in three pool play matches.
Wheaton North Invitational: Andrew lost to Buffalo Grove 25-14, 25-20 in the Gold Division seventh-place match. Oak Forest (2-5) was runner-up in the Blue Division after falling to St. Viator 25-12, 25-15. Alyssa Kolecki had 31 assists over five matches for the Bengals, who also received 23 kills and 12 digs from Jenna Brown in the two-day tournament.
SouthWest Suburban Classic: Host Lockport (305) captured first place ahead of Sandburg (308) and Lincoln-Way East (310) in the 12-team field at Broken Arrow, where play was conducted under the two-player best ball format. Lincoln-Way East teammates Jake White and Jimmy Goich shot a 1-under 71 in winning medalist honors. Lockport’s Luke Trent and Ben McAdams (73) were second, one place better than fellow Porters Gehrig Hollatz and Joe Tomczak (74).
Bishop McNamara Invitational: Medalist Jordan Velez carded a 72 in sparking St. Laurence (333) to a third-place finish at Kankakee Elks.
Boys Cross Country
Young Hokum Karem Relays: Ian Peterson and Ben Alvarado (30 minutes, 38.8 seconds) had the top combined time over 6 miles in guiding Lincoln-Way Central (9 points) to first place at LaBagh Woods. Tommy Kolacki and Jackson Waters (30.57.2) added a second-place showing for the Knights, who placed ahead of Latin (21), Von Steuben (33), Rolling Meadows (39), Bremen (41) and Payton (47).
Girls Cross Country
Young Hokum Karem Relays: Lincoln-Way Central (13) edged Loyola (18) and Latin (19) for top honors in the 11-team meet at LaBagh Woods. The Knights were led by Heidi Killinger and Gretchen Zirgaiti (37.29), whose combined mark over 6 miles was good for third place. Madison Smith and Dana Boucher (37.49.7) came in fourth for the winners.
Olivet (Mich.) Invitational: Evan Eissens (76) shot a team-best 150 over two rounds in leading Trinity Christian (613) to a fifth-place finish. Owens (588) won top honors in the 16-team field at Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Men’s Cross Country
Hawks/Chiefs Invitational: Salvador Lazaro (20:43.2), of Joliet Junior College, was fifth in the 6-kilometer race at Harper. Harper (21) won the team title ahead of Southwestern (44), Waubonsee (81) and Joliet Junior College (97).
Eastern Illinois 2, St. Francis 0: Dominic Racca had one goal and one assist to steer host Eastern Illinois (1-0). James Thorpe made three saves for St. Francis (0-2).
Carthage (Wis.) Invitational: St. Xavier’s Taylor Thompson (73) was the medalist after posted a two-day score of 149 at Bristol Oaks Country Club. Krystal Garritson (155), of St. Francis, finished third after closing with a 75. Host Carthage (640) won the crown by 11 shots over Wisconsin-Whitewater. St. Francis (658), St. Xavier (668) and Wheaton (673) rounded out the top five in the 13-team meet.
Women’s Cross Country
Hawks/Chiefs Invitational: Joliet Junior College (29) won the four-team meet, besting host Harper (35), Southwestern (79) and Prairie State (91). Meghan Gray (16:02.4) was sixth in the 4-kilometer race to lead the champion Wolves.
St. Xavier 2, St. Catharine 2: Cassie Pullia and Monica Chavolla (assist) contributed goals for St. Xavier (0-0-2) in Henderson, Tennessee.
St. Xavier/Trinity Christian Tournament: St. Francis (4-4) was the top local team in the weekend event, winning both of its matches to complete a 4-0 slate at Trinity Christian. Danielle Conrad had 56 assists to lead the Saints, who bested Lourdes 25-19, 26-24, 25-20 and Siena Heights 25-21, 25-13, 25-23. Shelby Kupferschmid added 18 kills and 18 digs for St. Francis. Erynn Schuh’s 91 assists and 31 digs ignited Trinity Christian (3-5), which also won twice to finish 3-1 in tournament play. Courtney Samudio added 32 kills for the Trolls, who outlasted St. Ambrose 24-26, 26-24, 25-17, 26-24 and Point Park 27-25, 21-25, 25-18, 25-14. Marie Hackert rang up 18 kills and Kelli Shaffer provided 54 assists to pace St. Xavier (3-4), which lost to Lindsey Wilson 25-23, 25-17, 25-12 and beat Spring Arbor 25-20, 25-17, 25-21. Heidi Gregerson chipped in 17 kills for the Cougars, who went 2-2 in the invitational.
