Andrew bowler Cassie Boat had her best three-game series with a 722 on December 29. The personal record didn’t stand for long.
Boat had a 742 afternoon session Saturday as part of a 1,363 six-game total to take the individual crown and lead the Thunderbolts to the team title at the Lady Bengal Bowling Invite at Oak Forest Bowl.
“I was just on a roll,” Boat said. “I had my mark and everything was going good. My teammates were great.”
Boat closed with a 268 game that included eight straight strikes.
Andrew finished with a total pinfall of 5,743, easily outdistancing Plainfield North (5,427) and 14 others for the team title.
Nicole Zopf (5th, 1,149) and Stephanie Garuckas (6th, 1,144) were also medalists for the Thunderbolts while Jenny Hallas (18th, 1,082) and Ashley Stefanski (32nd, 1,005) also contributed.
“The kids did wonderful today,” Andrew coach Julie DeChene said. “They were very consistent and solid. It was great to see them come together. To get every game over 900, that’s what we wanted to do.”
Demonstrating Andrew’s consistency, its low game of 944 was just 41 pins below its high of 985.
“With conference and sectionals coming right around, it’s perfect for us to be bowling like this right now,” Boat said.
Sandburg’s Nicole Powell finished second with 1,253, followed by Rich South’s Salest Stewart (1,204). Also medaling were Evergreen Park’s Sarah Klawitter (8th, 1,129), T.F. South’s Charity Bickom (9th, 1,123) and Lincoln-Way North’s Taylor Heppeler (10th, 1,121).
Bremen, which was led by Jessica Lundeen (15th, 1,096) and Lindsey Baker (17th, 1,084) finished third with 5,299.
“We shot well as a team,” Bremen coach Kevin Walsh said. “To have no one in the top 10 and still finish third shows that we really did it as a team.”
Sandburg (5,284) finished fourth. Lincoln-Way North (5,029) was seventh followed by Tinley Park (5,004), T.F. South (4,883) and Rich South (4,836).
