Colin Mulroe, a senior at Lincoln-Way West High School, has transitioned to the wrestling mats this winter after helping the Warriors football team to the Class 5A state playoffs. Earlier in the wrestling season, Mulroe topped the podium at the 16-team Pontiac Invitational at 195 pounds.

You were part of the SouthtownStar All-Area football team. Does wrestling help you on the gridiron?

I think it does. I played defensive line, and I loved chasing down the quarterback for sacks. Wresting gave me better feet and balance.

As a wrestler, are there any celebrities you’d like to grapple with?

I’d go for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. That guy is huge. I’d be curious to see how I’d do against him.

What’s one food you can’t live without?

Lasagna. But it has to be my mom’s. Anyone other lasagna just isn’t good.

If we made a movie about your life, which actor should audition to play you?

I’ll go with John Stamos. But if it was about my life, the movie would have to be a comedy. Actually, it should be an action comedy.

After you finish school, what’s your ideal career?

I’m not sure the exact career, but I’d like to be in the medical field. I’ve always wanted to help people.

What are you more attached to, your computer or cell phone?

I’d say my computer. If I had to, I could give up my cell phone. I’d still have a land line, I just wouldn’t be able to text.

If you could see any band in concert, past or present, who would it be?

The Beatles. They are such a classic, and they’re probably the greatest band of all time.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I used to be a really good singer, but then I hit puberty. I tried to keep with it, but it wasn’t pretty.
