Mount Carmel 8, Morgan Park 0: Dave Dobrinich gave up eight hits, but didn’t allow a runner to cross the plate in a complete-game win. Malik Carpenter went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI, and Nick Wheeler hit a double and drove in a run for Mount Carmel (5-0).
Oak Forest 7, Joliet West 2: Matt Zubek got the win and went 2-for-4 at the plate for Oak Forest (3-0).
Providence 8, Marist 6: Shawn Cavallone had three hits and drove in three runs, and Niko Kutsulis added three hits and two RBI for Providence (2-1). Justin Hunniford got the win for the Celtics, allowing three hits and striking out three in 21/3 innings.
St. Rita 1, Marian Catholic 0: Tyler Halas (2-0) tossed a one-hitter over 52/3 innings, striking out six, to lift St. Rita (8-0) in the Do it Stevie’s Way Challenge. Marty Bechina (2-for-3) drove in the Mustangs’ run.
Evergreen Park 10, Hillcrest 0: Maddie Bojacek (1-0) gave up only one hit and struck out four over four innings. Bethany Salazar went 3-for-3 with a double, and Jenna Haase went 2-for-3 with a homer, two RBI and two runs for Evergreen Park (1-0).

Oak Lawn 11, Bremen 2: Oak Lawn (1-2) rolled behind Mia Loya’s complete-game performance. She struck out eight and allowed four hits. The Spartans received offensive contributions from Reily McTeague (4-for-5, 2 2B, 4 RBI), Kaleigh Hayes (2-for-5, RBI, 2 runs, 2 SB), Ashley Labuda (4-for-4, 2 RBI, run, 3 SB) and Kayla Reichert (2-for-3, RBI, 2 runs).
Richards 6, Lemont 5: Richards scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh for the win. Jordan Battles doubled and scored on Emily Wetzel’s double to tie the game at 5 before Sara Kiziak hit the game-winning RBI single. Kiziak (3-for-4, double, run) earned the victory, allowing four hits and striking out four over five innings in relief. Riley Jay went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs for Lemont (0-1).
T.F. South 4, Shepard 1: Sarah Kessler went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBI to power T.F. South (1-1).
Tinley Park 7, Reavis 3: Winning pitcher Annalisa Scott fanned seven and went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Megan Laib (2-for-3, 2 2B, 3 RBI) and Sam Alberto (HR) contributed.
Lincoln-Way North 2, Plainfield Central 1: Lincoln-Way North improved to 6-0 behind Rachel Pappas’ two goals. Tasha Fields recorded an assist for the Phoenix.
Marian Catholic 3, Queen of Peace 2: Hailey Losselyong scored two goals to go along with an assist as Marian Catholic (5-2) edged Queen of Peace. Renae Melone added a goal and an assist, and goalie Sarah Sieracki made four saves for the Spartans.
Lincoln-Way East d. Mount Carmel 25-12, 25-20: Nate Van Dellen led Lincoln-Way East with eight kills and eight digs, and Ryan Vorderer contributed seven kills.
St. Ignatius 13, Marian Catholic 12: Celeste Friel found the back of the net seven times, but it wasn’t enough as Marian Catholic dropped to 1-4. Carla Benet added four goals for the Spartans, whose other goal came from Rachel Piacentini.
Lewis 5-12, St. Joseph’s 3-11: Sam Couch (5-0) went the distance and got the win in Game 1 for Lewis while Austin Mastela drove in two runs. Alex Slaby lifted the Flyers (13-10, 6-4 Great Lakes Valley) in the second game with the winning hit in the bottom of the ninth.

Chicago State’s Keenan in the hunt: Chicago State’s David Keenan is in second place after two rounds of the Beu/Mussatto Invitational hosted by Western Illinois at Harry Mussatto Golf Course in Macomb. The junior’s 147 (72-75) has him two shots back of South Dakota’s Samuel Matthew (71-74) for the lead. The Cougars are in ninth among the 13-team field after carding a 634 (316-318).
Women’s College Golf
Chicago State finishes third: Chicago State finished the two-day Saluki Invitational hosted by SIU at the Hickory Ridge Golf Course with a score of 638 (320-318), good for third place. Sophomore Lorelle Weavers (80-78) and senior Brooke Melvin each posted a 158 to lead the Cougars. Southern Illinois won the 14-team tournament with a 617 (309-308).
Lewis in first after first round: Lewis freshman Rachel Sweeney is in second place after shooting a first-round 77 at the Regis University Spring Invitational in Lakewood, Colo. The Flyers lead the eight-team field after shooting a 326.
